I noticed a slight upward blip in prices when the movie was out, but since then the cars have resumed a normal rate of depreciation. If you compare prices now to back when the movie was hot, you'll see that they have declined. That's to be expected.

Yes....it did. I can remember when FD's were going for under $9k. Then the movie hit....then it started going damn crazy.....F__K. I should have bought one back then. I was thinking to myself....just wait for a an R2...then BAM!!!!

It'll prolly go down to lower than before the movie, when all the ricers and hicks who bought one because of it find out how hard an fd is to take care of. Once they all try to sell they'll cause a supply glut and just like the dot coms the FF bubble will burst.

I don't think it did either. But here lately I am tired of people bitching that their too expensive.
As rotaryknight said in another thread they're weren't meant to be for everyone and it kinda sucks now that the price has come down so low. I am also tired of seeing 16 -18 y/o kids getting them, to me that's a sign it's the time to get rid of it.

Hey now!
Nothin wrong with 18yr old kids getting em I've been workin my *** of to get a 7. It just so happens that my parents have this "You need to learn the value of hardwork" thing. So unlike most of my high school I didn't get a car bought for me just because I got a little card called a drivers license. The rest of the kids that didnt get cars bought for em when they turned 16/17/18 will get em as a "graduation present." ****, its taken me a year of workin my *** off and beating my head against the wall saying "Dad, just HELP me get a loan, I'll pay for it all, just cosign!" Well finally he did, but as it is I can barely afford a T2 (and still have enough left for repairs/mods). So the way I see it, it only sucks when you see 16-18yr old kids with FD's that THEY didn't buy and that they know NOTHING about. The rest of us are just hard working rotary lovers that would sell their best friends into slavery if it would help us get a good FD
Sorry, I would give you my $.02 if I wasn't going to be so broke for awhile (shipping cars is expensive and SLOW).

yup yup....rediculously low prices is what lead me AWAY from the FD. two years ago, when i fell in love with the FD and started to do enough research to be ready for one, the prices were in the low $20s. then they got lower and lower...then the ****** movie came out. i feel it didnt effect the price that much, but it did. maybe on average, prices increased by $700-1000. but after that, prices kept on falling...and falling...and falling...
the fact that you could now find a decent FD for under $13,000 really bugs me. and the fact that it is cheap (initially) enough for the average ricer to trade in their Cibic or Teg for the same price bugs me even more.
i still love the FD, and still think it is an awesome car. if only the asking price was on average $10,000-$15,000 higher than it currently is, i still might be intersted.
but for now...the Supra is staying in the upper $20 - lower $30 range, and it seems as if it will stay there for a while, which i like. less chance of them falling into the hands of ricers.

The shame is, the red 7 in the movie is IMHO cheese compared to a lot of FD's... I got some one on one time with it. Check out my vid. (paste the link...)
Also I thought I heard a while back the white FD got stolen from a lot at Warner Brothers

Maybe he should sell his 7 before he's done, so he won't be with the rest of us "rice boys?"

Far less then the Supra, turbo or not. This is the lamest thing I've ever heard, and FD prices didn't go up, and according blue book, neither did the Supra's. But the typical Supra owners and Rice Boys have jacked the the typical sale price up. Hey fine with me, more jelly beans with handles in the hands of rich "rice boys." I don't think I want to drive any cars now, cause they have been in movies or because what other people may f%cking think. Don't drive that Z06, must be a mid life car. I'm sure people like Jim must hate driving stuff around for fear what others may think.

2. just because there have been many FDs that have totaled, doesnt mean that the same has not happened to Supras. there is no exact way of determining how many of each car is left on the road. your best guess is going by production numbers, when in that case...there are less TT Supras than FDs.
3. blue book and RX-7, and blue book and Supra do not belong in the same sentences. if you go by blue book figures for cars of this type, you are a moron. blue book can mean jack **** if the actual asking prices are totally differnent.
4. there are far more rice boys driving FDs, and for more riced out FDs compared to Supras, that i have seen in person or compiled on the internet. FDs are getting dirt cheap, and have been so over the past 4-5 months. thus falling into the hands of the wrong (read, RICERS) people, and many of those examples are right here in this forum.
