Diagnostic process - Am I particularly stupid?
Last night me and the missus went out. And our primary car broke down on the way home.
Today we tried to go out in the RX7 and this isn't starting at all? It makes me wonder if someone f@#ked with our Familia to delay us to steal the FD.. But maybe I've just watched too many episodes of 'White Collar'.
So doing a diagnostic: (It's a 95 FD) I've read that you jump 10 & Grnd. And then a light flashes on the dash, but I don't get anything flashing anywhere. Is there any other way to test for what is causing the no spark?
What I've checked so far:
-Kill switch is still in tact - nothing shorted etc.
-No fuses blown
-Battery still got tonnes of life
What is working:
-It winds over
-You can smell fuel - (so kill switch and opening relay is working)
However still not sparking. 6 months ago the ignitors were replaced, 6 month old spark plugs, everything worked fine 2 days ago.
Any ideas?
Cheers

The FD has just sat in the middle of the driveway the last few days, and we've been parking the Familia on the road
I'll take out the plugs tomorrow and try again. I also heard/read somewhere once that if it's flooded you can pull a fuel pump relay and crank it over to 'clear out the engine' so to speak. Is that also an option?

Just one more thing of note on that diagnostic code pull attempt- even if there are no fault codes, there *should* still be a flash thus:
Observe the LED. If there are no current stored trouble codes, the LED light will turn on for 2-3 seconds and then go off.
So you may not have tried to read the codes correctly in the first place, or there is something amiss with the car that is not letting you see any flashing to let you know that the fault checking circuit is "okay/operating".
I'm guessing since you're in NZ, you have a right hand drive JDM car like me? You do know that our fault codes CANNOT be read on the instrument cluster (as all American cars can), right? You must solder up an LED and a 500 ohm resistor to plug into the diagnostic port under the bonnet and read from there, dude.. All this stuff online about reading the check engine light on the dash is only for USA cars...
