Development in my problem, see how good you are...

OK guys, here is new development on the problem i have.

First, the car start, but it is really hard to start. It cranks really well but it doesn't start, then when it gets close to start, i hit the gas pedal to the floor and then it starts.

When the car is hot, it doesn't start anymore, need to wait till it is a little colder and then it starts.

But when the engine is working, it is going like a charm, the car pulls really great.

It really looks like the engine is missing air or is sending too much fuel on start up.

what could it be?

here is what we tried

-change the spark plus, coils, igniter and wires.
-swapped an other UIM with TB
-changed the crank angle sensor.
-tried an other purge control solenoid with an other catch can.
-we tried to disconnect the fuel temp sensor and plug an other in the air
-same thing with the water temp sensor.
-fuel pressure is good, we have a fuel pressure gauge.

what do you guys think? I am out of ideas.

The engine is running strong because once it's started, it is really powerfull.

Could be:

- Leaky fuel injectors

- bad FPR


and of course the ubiquitous "low compression."


Seems to be more of a "too much fuel" thing from your description, however. Especially since the car seems to start up easier after you cut fuel by burrying the accelerator upon start-up..

PRC solenoid.

Route vacuum from FPR directly to LIM nipple, bypassing PRC solenoid.

Do a search on "FPR LIM"

the fpr solenoid is already bypassed and the injectors were rebuilt

i don't think it would be low compression, why would the engine go so well when it is started?

This is what I was going to say from the starting issues.

Although agree that odds of it being too much fuel at startup could be a problem, however wouldn't lead me to figure out why it wouldn't start at all warm, only cold.

How's your idle? Any heavy smoke under acceleration?

no smoke, seems regular

idle is good, a little high but good

using the M2 ecu but we tried with a stock ecu, makes the same thing

I think it's low compression issue. I used to have it with my old T2. When it's cold It starts like a charm and boosts fine and everything.

However, if i turn it off, wait like 5-10 minutes it won't start. I'll have to wait for it to cools down. I know once i was in a hurry and i pretty much didn't care anymore what happens to the engine, I had to put snow on the manifold and **** so it will cool off and i could start it.

I went to get my compression tested and it showed low on rear rotor
