Designed and manufactured my own front sway-bar mount reinforcement bracket. (no 56k
-Links the weak stock sway bar mounts together and ties them to steering rack mounts on subframe so you can use an aftermarket sway bar without fear of bending the stock mounts.
-Similar in function to the Racing Beat part but different design, material, and manufacturing method.
-Laser cut 10ga steel (.135" thick)
-Formed on CNC press brake
-Weighs less than 4lbs
-Has holes for mounting custom under-trays

What do you guys think? Questions? Please pardon my dirty car.

very nice. congrats on doing something creative. i do think that i would have given the two tabs some further help. i would have done a 45 degree angle from the end of the tab back to the latitudinal bar to give them more resistance to stress.

Howard,
If you are describing a gusset on the underside of the tab, there are reasons why I can't do that. One is that is would be a separate welded part which would add another operation in the manufacturing. Also, I don't think there's enough room under the tab for both the head of the mount bolt and a gusset. The tab width is limited by the shape of the subframe.
I really don't think the tabs need more help, honestly. Even without the tabs, the part would serve it's function pretty well. It's a 10ga C-channel so it's really hard to twist even before you add the tabs. Furthermore the mount holes in the tabs are close to the bend line so the tabs really aren't seeing much leverage, and the tabs have pretty generous fillets at their base to prevent that area from being much of a stress-riser.
thanks,
James

that looks really good. do you suppose this would improve handling by reducing flex?
My stock mounts where all bent up so i made some new heavy duty mounts. I thought about running a bar across to link them together, but decided they were stout enough.

"gusset on the underside of the tab"
sorry but i didn't make myself clear. i meant simply changing the rectangular tabs so they flow back to the main bar at a 45 degree angle, thus adding more meat and a better supportive force flow vector.

I don't know if this would fit with the widefoot kit, but this part is basically intended as an alternative to using the Widefoot kit or the Racing Beat part, and it's very affordable!
I'm not knocking the Widefoot kit, it's cool. This is just another choice.
