depressed about 1/4 mi time

Today is the first day to get the car out of storage, and to try out my christmas present "g-tech". Ok last year I ran my car at the track and got a 14.5@ 102 with only 6psi on my primary and a 14 on my 2nd. The only mod was a pettit cold air ind. Now I still have the same boost problems but I have a dp now. I thought that I would be in the mid 13secs because the old dp was a little clogged, but NOOOOO only a frickin 14.0 @ 106.8
I will have my exhaust monday (apexi gt spec) and I will test it out after I get it on, to see if I can break into the 13s.
April 1-10 ill be in florida at pettit to figure out my boost prob. God I hope its nothing bad!!!
So anyway what do you think I could run if my boost was normal low 13s ????

Maybe the winter storage made you not as sharp with your car and you were a little slower then before? Maybe G-Tech was off? maybe shaving . 5 sec's off with a DP is all you should get...but with good boost I'd say...13.4-13.6's? Where in Michigan are you Dan?
Nick

I run at 13.5 @103 mph. With your trap speed, you should have a better ET. My FD tends to bleed off boost from 13-14 psi to 9 by 3rd gear...

Dan don't worry about it, your trap speed is 106 mph so that means the power is there. You just need to lower your 60 foot times and you can be hitting low 13s.

I could be remembering incorrectly....but I though the g-tech was not that good of a indicator on mph...but alright on ET.

The power is there. From prestage.com calculators, for a 2970lb car and driver 102mph in the qtr requires 244rwhp and to run 106.8mph would require 280rwhp. that is one hell of a downpipe. With the g-tech absolute numbers are not the best but it is good for comparison, use the same streach of road etc so any inclination/declination will be the same.

Sorry maybe some of you missed my point...106 on the gtech is more like 100-102 at most... meaning maybe the power is not there.....

I think 106mph is close. Like I said before I ran a 102 before the dp. here is the time slip from last summer

No, you see, The G-tech will measure your absolute speed at the very end of the quarter mile.

At the track, your trap speeds will be the average of the last 60 feet.

So your indicated speed with the G-Tech is more than what you will see at the track. It's just something to keep in mind.

I dont know why you really want to take it to the track and why you are still buying mods when you dont have the boost fixed. Get the boost problem fixed and you might see the results you wanted. Also shaving .5 seconds off your ET with just a DP is really good!

You said intake, downpipe, and cat back? Yea the boost is a problem and you should look into that but when you find it it will be time to look for a new ECU or your 1/4 mi. times will get much worse.

That is the fully loaded weight. Includes 2 people and a full tank, etc... You are probably closer to 2900 +/-. Go to a scale and get a correct weight though. It costs about 5 bucks.

2nd, why don't you fix what is wrong and THEN start the new mods...

Something is definately wrong with my car. Ran a 15.5. But my 60-foot time was faster than a guy that ran a 14.0. Fast off the line, but I lose power up top.

What do you boost at Crazy_Jake? At what RPM do you feel the power stop? 2nd turbo may not be holding it's own weight. As for this post. You are going from Michigan to Florida to fix your car. I know Pettit is good and all but that's a long *** ways to go.

The car starts stuttering, like a rapid-fire popping out the exhaust. Don't even think about downshifting to third gear on the highway, no power, sounds like a machine gun exhaust, so I let off the throttle, it backfires. It runs better if I give it 3/4 throttle instead of full throttle.

Well it sounds like it is somewhere in your fuel system. Have you checked any of your parts like the fuel pump, filter, injectors, etc? More pedal pressure would allow more gas but ou get less power so I would think that you are not getting more fuel to go along with all the air you are generating which would cause a lean backfire or a detonation. I am not a guru by any means but I would take it to the shop immediately before the problem gets worse.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I'm putting in the Ultimate Fuel Pump from SR Motorsports, and changing the filter. Injectors were just balanced and blueprinted by RC.

the higher the gear you run it in, the better (larger) the number, and the more accurate

The road has to be perfectly (or VERY close to) flat, or the numbers will be skewed, sometimes dramatically.

The number shown is rwhp, and is lower than a dyno number, because you have wind resistance ... although you also have much better intercooler efficiency -- I'm not sure how that balances out.

As was posted, the number on the door is with 2 passengers (350 lbs total) and a full tank of gas. Fill the gas up all the way, then take the 3010-350=2660 and add your weight to that, then put that as the weight value. REMEMBER to find a flat road that you can go up to at least 100 mph on if you want an accurate number.

good luck w/ your hp goals
