Deleting P/S pump ? Idler kit ?

I'm planning to go to a full-manual steering setup (AtomicRex), so I'd like to actually remove the Powersteering (P/S) pump (not just looping of lines, etc.).

Is there a kit that replaces the P/S pulley with either another idler pulley on the P/S bracket, or utilizes the stock P/S pulley on a spindle that mounts to the P/S bracket ?

I'm keeping A/C as I'm in Florida, and it's still a dual-purpose street/track car, so I need to keep the P/S bracket as the A/C compressor mounts to it.

Thanks,
:-) neil

Hmm, maybe I'll try it out.

Anyone happen to know the belt length (I still have the A/C compressor) ?

Dan- I'd still like to see what you have "brewing" . . .

Same idea as the one pictured, but to have an actual pulley there. The 6 rib pulley I had made for our Idler pulley kit uses the same bearing as the A/C idler. I checked tonight and it bolts right on, the depth may have to be adjusted with a thin spacer but from what I saw tonight, not by much.

i had an aluminum pulley there b4 i had a friend cnc me a 6 rib one .. to fit the bearing of the idler pulley ... although it was a tight fit with the bearing it always managed to walk on me withing a couple of days ... i never understood y ... so i just went with this it`s track proven ... street worthy , headache free solution that works .. and has worked for a a few thousand km`s , no need to invent hot water for this one .. just go to your auto parts store .. try out a few belts on and call it a day

get a duct for that intercooler! otherwise it's just doing more harm than good.

after several minutes of driving that thing must get horribly heatsoaked from the heat rising off the radiator.

The pulley was cut wrong or the depth was not correct leaving the belt out of alignment.

Using the stock idler will work for the short term, but it will increase belt wear on the ribbed face that will cause the belt to slip at the point of the A/C clutch engagement. The ribs are designed to increase the contact patch of the belt without increasing its width, wearing off the face of the rib will reduce its effectiveness over time.
