deinstalling a cat converter
hi
my stock cat converter is broken inside (brings a bAAAd noise)
-can i remove this thing and replace with a straite 3" pipe?
-any other mods needed?
-what about this sensor? he controls the cat... whats to do why him?

Just yank it off the car and put a mid pipe on, I would suggest a full 3'' ext. for the car. Down pipe , midpipe, and ext (R&Bn dual tip is great flowing, yet very quiet. You will need to have a bung welded into the d-pipe for the o2 sensor if you do this. Make sure not to break the ground wire off the ext., between the m-pipe and ext.

venomturbine: You have to be extremely careful when installing a midpipe (test pipe, straight pipe are other terms) on these cars, especially with the stock engine computer. I would get a hi-flow cat converter instead.

guten tag.
fyi - when you remove the cat (thereby removing exhaust restriction) the turbos are able to run much more boost. however, the stock ecu only supports up to 10-11 psi max. the stock turbo control system will no longer be sufficient to control boost so you will very likely need a boost controller to keep boost to a nice safe 10psi. lots of this info supporting this can be found in the FAQs or searching for threads that rynberg particapted in.
rx7store and gothamracing.com and sell some nice high flow cats. many people say the bonez is the best - http://rx7.com/store/rx7/fdexhaust.html#Midpipes. or you could have one of the new style metal substrate cats welded into a midpipe if you want to be experimental - https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/my-custom-metal-substrate-high-flow-cat-project-414054/
