Data link connector?

Now mine is unplugged is this normal? when i plug it in it beeps at me. Now the car is an auto to 5 speed converson would this have anything to do with it? Also what does data link connector do?

it is a box under the dash on the driver side. it has two plugs going to it. right now both of them are unplugged.

Is it a black box under the kick panel on the left, next to the dead pedal? That would be CPU#2, which does all sorts of non-crucial misc. jobs. Well, except for the starter cut, that might be considered crucial

no it is not that one. it is under the dash on the right hand side of the stearing wheel. up underneith the dash. i think that it is tan colored?

Airbag module. They usually beep when the indicator bulb is blown, and/or under certain error conditions.
