FL Dashpot --pics and ?'s

How far should the plunger stick out of the dashpot?
Not sure if a piece might have broken off over the years, but the plunger is only about 1/8 inch. If you grab and pull it all the way out, maybe a 1/4 inch. I cleaned it and it is not sticking. Springs back out if you push it in -- but only the 1/8 inch.

Doesn't appear to be any adjustments to lengthen the plunge.
Guessing it is just worn out.

Any insights would be appreciated.

thanks

^Yep, that's just sticking out enough to JUST touch the throttle plates. It needs to be about double that sticking out.

May also want to see if you can find a good used one.

That might not be all your problems, but it's sure not helping. No dashpot and the car will want to stall coming to a stop, or the idle will drop really low, the car struggles for a second, then recovers.

I've posted in the part for sale section and emailed Ray for a price as well.
Going to check locally and see if any of the throttle bodies have one attached still.

Hoping THIS is the culprit.

Thanks

Same dashpot was used on some 2nd gen cars as well. That's where I got my used replacement from, locally.

Have a dashpot coming from Fritz.

Now I'm wondering if it might be the TPS????

stalling, backfiring, not holding an idle for more than 5 min.

Going to test the TPS tomorrow.
