GA 1680cc inj. leaking. NOT THE FUEL RAIL!!

So let me start from the beginning, I bought the car recently. Ran great and still does just idles a little crappy. About a week ago it started sounding like it was running on one rotor. I stuck my head in the engine bay and saw that I had a nice fuel puddle right below the secondary injectors.
Had the car towed home and did some troubleshooting. I ordered the fuel rail and replaced it today with a full function engineering railRX-7 Fuel Rail . After replacing it, I moved the injector that was leaking from the back of the fuel rail to the front.

Long behold now I have a new fuel rail with a nice little puddle in the front secondary injector now. Upon closer inspection it looks like its coming from the injector itself (yes I replaced the o-rings and lubed them for installation). not just a drip but looks like a mist now.

So in a nutshell my question is, Can I buy some Crown Vic. or any other vehicle with 1680s and stick them in the fuel rail without having to do anything else? Someone please save me a few bucks if I am wrong.

now a list of mods
GT3582r single turbo
PFC/commander/datalogit
hks twin ignition
550 primaries 1680 secondaries
aem wideband
zero emissions
Water/methanol inj.
Tuned for 15 psi.
fuel pressure regulator reading 35 psi @ idle

You may have a split o-ring due to a mistake during installation. In that case, an o-ring off any Bosch injector will work, including off a lot of Ford vehicles. I have picked them up from auto parts stores in the past. Just ask for o-rings off like a 2001 F-150 or something.

Put the key in the ON position and jumper GND and F/P in the diagnostic box. That will pressurize the fuel system so you can check for leaks.

I suspect the O ring is fine. I was asking more about replacing the injector. Can I use just any injector from a car that uses 1680s. great tip about the jumper wire in the diagnostic box.

I took everything back apart and using the jumper wire method I found that the injector itself is leaking, not the o rings. Its leaking between he white top and the black body. So same question stands... can I use any injector from a Crown Vic or are there certain models only. Help please!!!!

Dude. There's no way a Crown Vic uses 1680cc (160 lb) injectors. The Vic basically used down-rated Mustang engines. I'm not sure where you got that idea. I'm sure those injectors were originally designed for some really obscure industrial application.

Trust me, it's highly likely that you didn't seat the rail correctly, and/or an o-ring split.

nah I had seen these "bosch" 1680cc injector leak, just as he is descirbe. between the platic top (white/green or blue and metal body).

just buy a new one, same color top 1680cc . should be fine. but I would send them to be flow tested together, just to be sure they flow the same amount.

The Crown Vic did come out with 1680 injectors to accommodate for the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Hence the need for 160# injectors bosch part # 0280150846. i did see this and I know I'm not just dreaming it up. I just wasnt sure if there was any specific years that were preferred.

Where should I send them to be flow tested?

yes, these very high flow injectors were typically made for CNG applications. The ID2000 injectors are rumored to be for some CNG bus or something.

Local diesel shops can test injectors, or you can send them to more nationally-known companies like RC Engineering.

Speak to John at fuelinjectorconnection.com. He will repair, flow match, clean, and polish them up better than new. I had mine done last week. His turnaround time is great. you'll have them back in three days!

I would just buy two new 1680's. You never know when the other one will fail. It's probably cheaper insurance to just buy new ones than to bother sending these out to get repaired/cleaned. Your turn around time would be much less as well.

Did you buy them used?

That's what I had planned on doing but found a used set. The car is going to sit since I'm deploying so I just want to make sure it starts so the wife can run it at least once a week. Once I get back I'll get some id2000.
