Dash Gauge Pods

Looking into getting some gauges so I need somewhere to put them. I think I want to go with a dash pod that goes where the dash speaker goes. I’m looking for some pictures of them. Mainly from outside of the car looking in (because I can’t find any), but also from the inside. some seem like they don’t blend into the dash too well. I’d also appreciate Pillar gauge pod photos as well. From the inside and outside.

I have the old school Tripower (I think that's the name) center dash pod and have had numerous people comment that they thought it was stock. I don't know if they are still available, though.

Most of the center gauge pods look decent on the car. A-pillar pods look like crap and block the view quite a bit. Also Pettit's steering column mount is pretty clean looking.

Can you post some photos of it? Inside and from out?

You can also look for DRAKE's center mount gauge pod.. offered in both RHD and LHD configuration. It is 3D printed and fits very well. You can get it in smooth or textured finish.

I have the Prosport triple and it's very nice and was pretty cheap. No complaints, unless you want 60mm gauges.

Do you have any photos of them visible through the windshield?

I got the Drakes. It looks great, but I have 2 problems with it:
1. The tabs that hold the OE metal clips are very fragile. I emailed Shane, and he said it's a known issue. He offered to replace as well, but I superglued it and it's holding.
2. Mine wobbles when installed. Because of the metal clips, I do not expect it to fall out. I do not care for the wobble, though. Maybe it's my old-*** dash, maybe it's not. YMMV, so buyer be(a)ware.

A possible issue:
Drake's gauge opening diameter is EXACTLY 52mm. If you are running SPA gauges (don't, they suck) like me, which are 52.5mm in diameter, I had to bust-out the old dremel and take some material out to ensure fitment. Again, this is specific to my application.

If you have any photos from outside, through the windshield I’d appreciate it. It does sound like it could be caused by the dremeling but either way I think you could remedy it with some adhesive insulation. Sound deadening material could work or any kind of foamy/spongey insulating tape.

The dremel work was done to get the gauges to actually fit in the gauge holes. No dremel work was done to the base. My stupid car is at the shop right now, so I cannot take any pictures.

I would try something like this, between the two plastics. This is just a little sheet that came with my speakers.

I got the same pod recently and I have the wobble problem. Kind of annoying because I have AEM gauges with buttons. If I push the button too hard it will cause the pod to move. Have not reached out to Drake about the issue, so I can only blame myself.

Will say also with the Drake's pod, it takes a month to get them. I searched for a Tri power pod but they are NLA. Wish there were more options for center mount pods. Its the best place to mount IMO

You got any pictures of your set up? From the outside looking in?

The prosport has the very similar problems honestly. I have both, but I'm going down to the single 52mm drakes which fits a single haltech gauge fine. I will say I don't blame Drakes or Prosport. As the dashes age they swell and warp no two are really the same shape anymore.

I have zero wobble with my DRAKES dual 52mm pod. Snapped into place and is rock solid. It must be as @F1blueRx7 is saying, each dash is a tad different based on heat/age.

I was thinking about adding a pillar pod, but the damn thing is so small to begin with it seems it would be crowding me more.
I have the pettit column also. The only issue with that is there is no real way to fasten it down. My center pod is incredible. I think the damn thing is close to looking oem.
I am swapping my boost and afr for a boost/afr failsafe combo as I have to add a fuel pressure gauge.

what gauges are you running? I was going to get AFR, fuel pressure, boost, battery voltage in that order. I have an electric turbo timer that doubles as a boost guage for now. I was looking at glow shift. I like the lighting options they have. Their logo is kind of tacky IMO though.

All AEM. Boost, afr, water injection (failsafe), and I just use the commander from the pfc for water temp. I have to add a fuel pressure gauge as I am having a slight issue. That's why I will add the afr/boost failsafe to make room for the fuel pressure. I wanted a failsafe anyway on the afr as I will eventually hook it up to an electric solenoid on the wastegate. I am not really a gauge freak, I just like to know what is going on.
