darn it...extra throttlebody stud anyone?

i over-tourqued one of my throttle body nuts and broke the stud in two... (me = big dummy)

...anyone have a throttle body-to-elbow stud lying around? Not the throttle body to UIM studs, but the smaller throttle body to intake elbow studs.

I found the throttle body page on the parts manual, but no part number for the studs :-( otherwise I would have ordered a few.

just go to the dealer and sweet talk one of the mechanics. it will cost you more to ship one than take a few minutes to go to the dealer....

You might find one at the hardware store.

You can find similar studs at the hardware store. Take the broken one with you and match a nut to the stud to get the correct size. I did the same thing and it worked great!

Damian,

I did the same thing. I took the throttle body over to Mazda to the parts guy (since I couldn't find the part # either). He found a close match (probably from a 626 or something) and give it to me for no charge.

I'm a regular at over-torquing those very same studs, and have found perfect replacements at both Autozone and Advanced Auto Parts. Pep Boys does not carry them, however.

Don't worry about the stud it's replaceable. I did the same thing in June and I replaced it. Take some WD-40 and lubricate the stud, use a vice grip and unscrew the remaining stud. Autozone has a replacement that is the exact size but is just a bit longer but it works fine. The Sku # is 329306. Good luck

I knew there were some OLD skool jokers posting in this thread so something had to be up.

Coincidentally, a customer's FD had a broken TB stud the other day too

Autozone wants $18 for the stud, I searched and found that rockauto.com has the same dorman stud with the same 329306 part number for a $1.18

Hmmm... Why not just remove the other one, go someplace like Advanced or such, match the pitch, thread and length and find a replacement, as a bolt (sold in 4-packs). That way you know all 4 are the right ones?

I believe I have several of these laying around. They may be from a turbo compressor housing or egr/split air etc but they will work the same. Just let me know if you want me to send you some.

I think 675-317 is the updated part number. I have a bunch of them left from a box I ordered about 5 years ago and I'm happy to send you a few.
