Damn coolant, WTH
Also, what psi should I test the system to? I am just having a hard time believing that the seals are that bad that it just sucks my coolant down. I mean, not a puff of smoke ever, no coolant in the oil, no prob. starting up, and the thing runs and idles beautifully. I don't know, I just want to make sure that I try everything before I put a new motor in and have the same thing happen because of something else. Also there is one hose that is under the intake that leads to the filler neck area that has been bent a little bit, would this cause the flucuation in the coolant system?
dhall:
Does the light even come on by just putting the key to the accessory position? mine does...makes me think it cant be seals....perhaps a bad sensor ...let me know your thoughts- or anyone else with an idea?

No, if yours comes on when you just put the key in then the coolant is down passed the sensor right there on the filler neck. That or the sensor is bad. Mine only comes on after I drive it and turn it off and then the coolant spills out of the overflow. But it hasn't done that today, and the level has not flucuated nearly as much after I replaced both cats. Another thought that I was thinking is that maybe my stock cat is clogged and allowing the motor to get too hot, causing my coolant to get too hot and exit the motor after shut down, overflowing. Then again my overflow was way to full when it did over flow. Anyone else think that this may be my tstat? What are the symptoms of a bad tstat?
Also if I take out my intake, there is a coolant hose that is down there that leads somwhere to the radiator, and it is bent somewhat, and it kinks. Someone said that this won't effect it, but I just read that Jspec said that this will cause the coolant to do funny things. I will post a pic later.
Dude, it's your coolant seals... I have the exact same issues. Replaced every hose and clamp and coolant is disappearing. You don't see smoke b/c the rotary is so hot it's turning coolant into super heated steam. Pull your plugs to see if they look steam clean.
Pressurize your system for several hours, 4 or more and pull plugs, see if coolant comes out.

Check the little hose that goes from the AST to the overflow. That doesnt get pressurized when cooland is purging into the tank so it wint leak, but when things are cooling off you wont suck coolant back into the ast, just air. May not be the problem but that should be an easy thing to check.
whoa, this thread is older than your mom! id bet the guy has fixed the problem and run into three more by now...
anyway, i think it sounds like a stuck thermostat. either that or warped water jackets or rotting coolant o-ring seals.
