stripped screws can be removed usually with vice-grips (tighten as u turn), or if you cant get one in there, try easy outs. they have a reverse thread that digs in as you turn it anti-clockwise on the screw.
if that doesnt work, grind or cut the bolt head off, remove whatever its holding, then you multi-grips or vice grips to remove the stud left sticking out.

To get the y-pipe off, you have to first remove the intake pipe that goes to rear turbo. Its held on by 2 10mm nuts that you can get from under the car. Then you can remove the y-pipe by removing the 4 10mm nuts. Theres a bunch of other hoses and stuff the needs to removed too, but I think removing those 2 10mm nuts from under the car is the hardest and least obvious part.

theres 4 in the front and three in the back. if you take the piece on top of your transmission (thats holding a hose) off you will have more room. i used a small racthet with a 1/4 in socket and a 1/4 screwdriver bit holder, to get to the screws on the back.
make sure if you are using a screwdriver ratchet bit, use the #2 phillips and put pretty good pressure straight against the screw, and there will be less of a chance of stripping the head. i think it is equivalent to a 3/8" drive, but dont quote me on that.
snap on and kragen brand both call the size #2 phillips.

You don't have to unscrew those screws to get the rack out. If you take a look at the bracket that the rack is bolted to, you can remove the entire assembly in one piece and its much easier that way. You have to disconnect the fuel lines using this method.
