I need to convince my dad this damn car (ls1 FD) is daily drivable, because i need a cosigner to take out a 20k loan.... how do i do this?

does anyone know of any websites, magazines, or any REPUTABLE sources that state that the car is indeed reliable...

need help!

Thanks!!!!!

as long as the swap was done right, and you don't go crazy on it and snap any axles, you should be fine.

LOL Is this a joke?

You're going to take out a $20k loan at an age where you need a cosigner to do it?!

Be glad enough your dad's even considering let you make such a stupid decision.

What'sup with everyone being so much in debt? Doesn't anyone ever recall how easy life is debt free (where applicable, excluding mortgages..)......

Buy something you can afford, like an $8k Mr2-Turbo or something...

***Edit***

Sorry to be such an ***, so anyways here's your answer:

You won't be able to find much other than perhaps a Compact Car magazine article on an LS1-FD buildup that will say "it's reliable" other than showing consumer reports for the LS1 a la Corvette.

Otherwise, what else can you do? It's a hybrid; there's nothing "official" about it. Going to print out this thread and show it to daddy?

i personally think anything modified, loses its reliablity....to a point ...

also your going to need to be able to work on it or a local shop just incase something happens ....good luck

Sorry to disappoint you, but why would your dad ever put his credit rating at risk for your FD? If you miss a payment, it’s his credit rating that takes the hit!

Whether the car is reliable or not, doesn’t change the fact that you are asking your dad to co-sign on a frivolous car. FD’s make for an expensive daily driver, I would urge you to think twice about using it as such. If you can’t afford to buy one right now, it’s no big deal, just save up. Or better yet, just buy what you can afford.

Thank your Dad for his decision and use it as a life inspiring event to share with your children in days to come. If you don't have a job then get one and establish credit. Do this by getting a simple walmart card, etc and then pay your bills. In several years you will be signing your own loans.

IMO if you cant take out the loan on your own and your own father will not vouch for you, then you are not in a postion to take on that kind of responsibility.
