CYM vs. Sunburst Yellow

Can't remember who asked about the Bathurst R color, but here's a comparison of the two colors. CYM on left and Sunburst on right. The pic of the car is not the Bathurst R.

For those who don't know, the car on the right is the limited edition 1996 RX-7 RS-R model.

What wing do they put on the RS-Rs? It looks kickass, kinda like a WRX wing. BTW, that Sunburst is gorgeous.

No offense to you Sunburst fans, but looks like someone parked a nice CYM next to a taxi

I like the CYM much more... not as... 'Hello Yellow' as the sunburst. But I'll still burst over the sunburst

First of all neither color gets represented correctly in that picture. My car is CYM and it looks noting like that.

CYM does not photograph well, the pearl simply does not show up properly in photos.

IMO CYM is the best yellow ever to be put on any car, because its not flat and it does not have the mustard look. Yellow Mustangs, Ferraris, ZO6s, etc, all have inferior yellow IMO.

Again, that pic doesn't even look like CYM, plus it looks like a pic of a factory paint job that has since faded badly to make it even worse.

Malachi151 is right, at first I had to look hard to tell what one is CYM, that CYM is dull - much duller then from factory. And like he said it is one of (if not) the best yellows I've even seen. (athough a friend has a yellow C5 and it doesn't look that bad)

Yeah, I'd have to agree that CYM is very difficult to photograph; whenever I take pics of my car, it looks like a different color every time. I've noticed it usually looks too "pale" in pics, just like that pic next to the Sunburst Yellow. I also like Sunburst Yellow tho... if I ever had to repaint my car... I would consider it; I like the orange-ish shade. CYM also has the orange-ish shade but only in the late afternoon light.

yellow cars are good for shock value, but after the shock wears off, you quickly realize they simply look gay

give me a new Spirit R in that awesome new blue, or black (black always looks great on an FD), or even silver, any day over an RX-7 bannana

CYMs are rare, so everyone wants one....they can have it

with that said, the somewhat faded vintage red on my car is maybe even worse than yellow

Oh I had no idea that cym had a pearl look to it. If we were basing the judgment solely on the pic, then I would still have to say that sunburst tickles my finkl whereas the cym does not. I know cym must be nice, but I've never seen one in person and I'm pretty sure that if the sunburst looks exactly the same in pics as they do in person, that would be a badass color.

JSpecFD, do you know about the wing they put on the RS-Rs??? I think it looks pretty sweet, at least from the front.

Any info appreciated!

You can get that wing from rx7.com under 98 body parts.

That wing is the revised stock rear wing Mazda offered for the Series VII RX-7's from 96-98, replacing the earlier 'batwing' variety found in the US cars. Several models, such as the RS and RZ, had the wing as standard equipment. Since its a Mazda OEM part, its not too hard to come by. Here's another pic showing the wing on an RS model:
