CYM numbers

i just bought a 93 CYM R1 with only 33,000 original miles on it from Peter Farrell... and when i bought it, he told me there were only 350 imported to america, but later, when i was doing a little more research on the car, i read that there were 500. and just a few minutes ago, i searched here and found someone who had said that there were 250. does anyone know the real number? cause i keep seeing different ones every where i go.

350 is the correct number, and ALL U.S. CYM VINs were R1s. CYM was also available in Canada in a base model, but is easily identified by the different digit in the Canadian VINs. With all other things takend into consideration (conditionwise) yellow usually gets a slightly higher price!

its completely stock, only 33k miles, and in perfect condition... even has the new car smell. people that dont know about the car are all shocked when i tell them it was made 11 years ago. they all think it's new. it's vin number is 1150, so its a pretty early one.. built in april 92

Really nice! Now all you need is the '99 spec conversion.

Here is my advice, and people won't agree with me but KEEP IT STOCK. Do the basic reliability mods but don't bastardize the car. It will be worth so much more to a lot of people, including me.

I agree and diagree. It all depends what you want to do to the car. Save all the original stuff if you do change anything. After all it is a sports car that was made to rip!! And some of the stock parts leave something to be desired in the performance department. Definatly keep it all though if resale is a thought! Nice ride!!

SomeDude2K,

Sweet ride my friend. I agree with what BigIslandSevens said and you reiterated. If you modify the car, keep all the stock pieces so you can convert it back to stock for some future owner. Initial mods I did were all aimed at reliability (DP, aluminum rad, aluminum AST, J&S, boost gauge, aftermarket temp gauge), but that's just me. Yes, there is a lot of hype surrounding yellow, and some of it IS overblown, but I can honestly say that when our club is out to the local Saturday Night car show, we can have 10+ FDs and the general public will swarm around the yellow. Not sure what it is about that color, but people sure love it. PM me your email address and I'll shoot you some pics of my CYM. I've had mine now for 3 years and I know the kind of excitement you're going through. I could hardly sleep the first month that I owned the car. Enjoy, and be safe!!

That's the attitude....Yea CYM's are sweet. It's just too dam hot to drive the FD right now. If youve got a precat your just cooking the **** out of the engine bay. I've heard it increases the engine bay temps by close to 200 degrees.

First thing I'd do is DP, do it now.IMO

Something isn't right there. My car is #1442 and it was built in Feb 92. Recheck your numbers.

It is a 3 part paint, actually 4 if you consider the white sub base coat. It is more costly than other paints because of this fact and the fact that it is yellow, which is more expensive to begin with. I dont believe that you can get it in less expensive brands either, which doesnt help much.

That's one of the nicest yellow cars I have ever seen. That being said, I would NEVER own a yellow car. I can't imagine a worse color. Maybe pink or orange. I don't know what the fuss is. Just because there were less of them made, doesn't make them any better. The white FD's were the second fewest made. You don't see people making a big fuss over them.
