Unhappy CWest Light Kit

Guys, I have the CWest Light Kit and I just read that they are illegal for use on public roads! *sigh* damn... anyone knows where I can get lamps that aren't fog lights and are legal! I wanna keep the headlight pods if possible...

i believe all aftermarket lights not designated as OEM replacements are illegal.. even higher wattage bulbs are not legal if you read the packaging.. i have a BMW and upgrading the lights to EURO spec lights are illegal according to the packaging even tho they look bone stock..

just put them in.. no cop is going to pull you over saying "i noticed your headlights are not street legal" just dont aim them to the point you blind oncoming drivers

yeah, but i'm just paranoid that somehow the lights will be a "moving" violation... cuz i have 5 points already and 1 more ticket means my license gets SUSPENDED...MEANS I GET REVOLKED!!! Damn it... I love my car, but profiling is so stupid.

A cop will not pull u over for that unless ur lights aim high, and u are driving behind them...then maybe they'll be pissed. Even if u get pulled over for it, u will get a fix-it ticket, no points.

Labels and stickers on lighting products will say that so the manufacturer will not be liable for use on public streets. In other words, so you can't go back and say "you didn't tell me so" after you got a ticket or something.

yeah, i guess they could've been labeled as illegal for use on public highways, but it's all in freakin' japanese! I'M NOT JAP dangit! (I dunno the language policy on this forum so that's why it sounds very strange!) Also, these lights look kinda purplish, so i am wondering if there's something i can do to change it. I think it has more to do with the cover than the bulbs themselves; eventhough, the bulbs do shine somewhat of a blueish colour.

its not a moving violation if you put them on, it'll just be a fine if you get caught. put them on and try to aim them so they aren't blaring at oncoming traffic, you should be fine i know tons of people with illegal headlights and none have ever gotten tickets for them.

You'll only get screwed if the officer is smart enough to measure your headlight distance from the ground ... I think it has to be at least 22 or 24 inches to be legal ... which is where some cars that are simply lowered get into trouble. Not having the popups would significantly lower the height of the light ... I think this is one major reason companys have to put pop-up lights in these ultra low cars. Look at corvetts, miatas, NSXs .... though the new NSX has non-pops ... got me thinking now. Anyway cop has to be smart enough to check!
