Cutting Open Stock Bumper

Hello,
In order to get more cooling flow to the stuff under the hood, is it workable to cut away some of the black material on the edges of the stock "mouth" on the car? Or does it look like crap or have some other problem if you try it?
Anyone tried it and found that it didn't help? It's just hot as hell under my hood, and figured a little more airflow couldn't hurt.

Regards,
Brian

Those inserts are designed to force the air blowing into the radiator instead of around it.

Don't think you can lower your temperature by removing the bumper opening inserts. If you're running temperature is high, even by rotary standard, look into the thermostat, fan relay, using a higher water to coolant ratio, turning on the parking light to kick on the fans or doing the fan mod.

Hmm I don't think it's high... it's a rock solid 85/86 Celsius even in 90-100 F heat and using the boost...

BUT... it just gets HOT in there. I thought it would help keep everything in tip top shape if I got the underhood temps lower.

I'm thinking of getting scoot's hood just to lower my under hood temps. The damn think also looks badass!!

Hmm I don't know much about vented hoods... I like to keep my car stock looking, but maybe it would be worth it to get rid of the heat somewhat.

Sooo... What hoods are recommended by you guys? Are they mostly carbon fiber? Can you paint carbon fiber?

Yes you can paint carbon fiber but some hoods come in fiberglass too. And I think the fiberglass usually weighs less. Like the Mazdaspeed replica hoods that some people have, they come in Fiberglass and CF, there was a group buy for them a while back. I think a Mazdaspeed or replica Mazdaspeed hood in fiberglass would be the best if you want to stay as stock looking as possible.
