The stock system uses a total of 12 solenoids: 4 for the sequential turbo control, 2 for boost control, 4 for emissions, and 2 miscellaneous (double throttle and fuel pressure regulator).

There has been a long-used method to simplify this system as shown here: http://www.robrobinette.com/turbo_sy...lification.htm. There are also countless threads on the forums pertaining to simplifying the system. Basically, this cuts down on all of the solenoids except those needed to properly control the turbos. In other words, it eliminates the emissions and miscellaneous solenoids.

The system that I have shown here is basically takes the idea outlined on Robinette's site, and improves it. The advantage here is that the new solenoids are much more reliable, they're much more compact, and it cleans up the "mess" under the UIM.

The great part is that I can custom build the system to do anything you want! I just recently got a PM from a gentleman asking if he could use these to upgrade the 4 turbo-control solenoids, but keep all his stock emissions solenoids (for smog testing). Sure, no problem! Basically, the best way to explain it is that these solenoids are extremely improved direct replacements for the stockers.

Hope that helps to clear things up.

Oh yeah, Group Buy has been approved!!! I'll be posting a GB thread later on today!

Oh come on! That shouldn't hold you back. We can put one in your car just for that extra "bling" factor!

They are direct replacements for the stock wastegate/precontrol solenoids. They help to control boost by regulating pressure in those two actuators. To be honest, these stock solenoids don't fail nearly as often as the rest of the "rack" solenoids. But some people want to upgrade these anyway. This is why I'm offering replacements as an "option" to the main GB.

All,

The last group buy went extremely well, and you guys completely cleaned me out. Even the extra systems that I built were sold and shipped. There has since been a few additional people that have expressed an interest in purchasing a system. Is there enough of an interest to initiate another group buy? Please let me know if you are interested in a system (please note: prices subject to change relative to the last group buy).

Rob,

Love the "cleaned up" look I am interrested in ordering a five solenoid system from you. Couple of quick questions.

(1) I recently had to pull the uim off, to replace the oil injection lines........in so doing i realized how brittle the harnes was under there, do you suggest getting a new harnes? if so, any idea where to get one.

(2) I am still running a stock ecu with full exhaust and blitz intake. If I go with the only five solenoids do I need to upgrade my ecu right away?

(3) I have heard the good/bad debait on non-sequential.........do you have non-sequential solenoid setup?

last question I promise.......when running five solenoids, I assume you have removed the air pump is there any other thing that is eliminated by going with the "fantastic five"?

Sorry for the long thread, Super nice job on the solenoids, and thanks for puttin' a couple more sevens back on the road to recovery.

(!) You can pull that harness out, peel the brittle wrappings off, and re-wrap with a better tape and or convoluted tubing...even tape has gotten better over the last decade. Inspect the backs of all your connectors for broken wire jackets AND/OR conductors...if there are no broken conductors but some torn wire insulation, I suggest filling the back of the connector with sensor safe RTV...make sure the clip is still function.

(@) Stock ECU and full exhaust is never a good idea...make sure you have great boost control, you may have to port your wastegate if it's not done.

(#) Non-seq requires no solenoids

($) Air control valve and all the hard lines running to the cat.

Update

Just a heads-up for anyone that's interested:

Another order for solenoids is currently being processed. After this one, I probably won't do another GB for quite some time, so if you're interested make sure you place an order as soon as possible. Closing date for this GB is 27 Jan. All orders must be placed prior to that date.

More details are on page 6 of my GB thread. Here's a quick link for easy reference:

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...32#post5179532

Please let me know if you have any questions/comments/concerns/etc.

Thanks for your support!

Last call on these upgraded solenoids. Orders need to be in to me by the end of the day tomorrow.

If you are interested but cannot make the suspense, then let me know. It's very possible that we may be able to work something out.

We've been on this dance before, but what about individual solenoids after you stop making the kits?

Yep. Just a quick point to clarify: I'll be building kits for a long time on an individual basis, so if people are ever interested, all they need to do is contact me. I just probably won't be doing many more mass group buys.

HDP, with regards to your question: Individual solenoids are always available. They will come with the same high-temperature molded coil, viton seat, SS internals, and properly spec'ed orifice, ports, springs, etc. However, prices may differ slightly depending on the specific configuration that you need. Function direction (2 or 3 way ports), and requirements for fittings (empty ports, nipples, breathers, filters, etc) may alter the price slightly. I request that anyone interested contact me for specific details. Thanks

Did anyone buy one of these 4 solenoid kits and want to sell or do you know if they are still available in any way?

Sorry to resurrect this thread from 6 feet under, but does anyone happen to have the vacuum diagrams that were sent with these solenoids. Mine got spilled on and ruined.

While we are on this topic...

Since saxyman is no longer around, can some post some details on the solenoids so we can source them ourselves?

Thanks.
