Question Custom OEM hood vent cutting

Greetings,
Recently I went to the New Jersey, Edgewater meet with some fellow forum members and I saw something I haven't encountered before... There was a black S2000 with a OEM hood with cut outs where his turbo was in the engine bay. The cut was the same pattern as the pattern underneath the hood which was then covered from underneath a nice clean solid mesh that was painted in dark gun metal gray. Upon asking the owner of the car he explained to me that someone in his forum has a special cutter. The cut was so clean it looked like a water jet cutter, the edges were smooth and professionally done. Now my question is, is there anyone in the forum that does this kind of work that I missed out? It would seem cheaper and there would be variety of ways to customize your looks on the hood for better circulation.

i run a louvered hood of my own design. like any aesthetic item the look draws different reactions from different people. i was going to do a group buy on it a few years ago but drew little interest.

i note the word "circulation" in your post.

if we move from aethetics to engineering there is no controversy. a properly designed vented hood pays big dividends.

if you are interested in some of the real engineering data re vented hoods you might check out my old thread.

I remember seeing your post regarding the vented hoods and I appreciate the reminder, however I was looking into more of a OEM look to the hood while customizing. I guess no one will got into using the stock hood. :\ I'm going to try to get the guy's number who does this work in the S2K forums. If I get the contact I will put the information up for those up would wish to get custom cuts done. Thank you.

I really dig the louvered hood.... It would be hard to actually punch the louvers in the hood with the inner structure though...
