i used a textured paint from autozone it will only look as good as the dedication you put into it.

materals needed 3 cans desired color ( remember tey make a paint for thins regular spray paint my crack choose paint at own risk) 4 cans primer (2 heavy 2 light) Sand paper lots of it auto zone sells sponges for sanding i recomend those 2 yellow ones and 2 red ones and a few sheets of medium and fine paper to get the places the sponges wont reach and breathing filters ( you know, the sars masks. you dont want to breath that **** in it dont taste good ) any other goodies you think might help you also depending on the color you select you may need clear coat. DO NOT POWER SAND you wil cut into the plastic and **** it up and be kickin your self in the ***

STEP 1 remove passangerside door pannel. remove the 4 screw that hold on the door pannel 4th screw is im middle or door pannel remove plastic square ( cant miss it ) screw is inside(( does not exist on drivers door)). remove the plastic trim at the top of the door pannel that cover up the outside door handle and the front corner ( lil black triangles ). inside the door handle cup remove plastic flap remove screw take off door pannel by lifting up remove wires for window control

STEP2 remove drivers side door panel. same as step 1 just 1 more wire to un hook from the miror controls

STEP 3 remove center console it just pops out remove shift **** nad disconect all wires

STEP 4 remove hood and cluster gauges. ( pain in the *** ) you have to take off the trim around the stering consome 3 screws on the underside and it clicks together so just snap it apart. one or two screws on botom of cluster gauge trim the the whole thing lifts and comes out disconect all wires

STEP 5 remove ac surround there will be two screws on the drivers side that you will see once you complete step 4 and two screws you will see once you complete step 3 remove ac ***** pull out disconect all wires.

by now you should have a cluster **** of interior trim and screws and wires

STEP 6 disasemble all the interior ie trim from door pannels remove shift boot disasimble cluster gauge trim and hood its all self explanitory once you get that far you will see the screws you need to take apart the hardest thing is the ac suround once you remove the case from the back and unhook the curcit board you have to remove the stickers that have the fan settings and stuff on the be gentle and dont rip them and you can reglue the with any super glue

once in side the cluser gauges you will see the green plastic for the turn signals you have to break them to get them out but you can super glue them back in when your done

STEP 7 once all parts have been broken down to the last part you can take off start sanding every thing you want to paint for the 93 fd this will suck bad you have to get all that rubber coating off or it will look like **** when you primer and paint it ... every last bit has to come off... if you mised some you will find out when you paint

STEP 8 use heavy primer ....primer all parts to be painted if you mised rubber coating dont freak when the primer hits it and it starts to crack wait till it dries and sand it off

step 9 sand all imerfections in the pevious primer job

STEP 10 use light primer..... this will fill in minor scratches

step 10 paint color of choice... use light coats go to thick and you will get runs

STEP 11 wait wait wait wait for it to dry recomed 2 days in a we ventalated climate controled area did mine in the garage with heat set on 85

STEP 12 once dry resamble all parts glue anything your clumbsy *** probally broke and enjoy your new not peeling fd interior.

like i said it all depends on your dedication to the project its not an over night thing you have to give the paints tme to dry a rush job will look worse than your chipped peeling interior.

if you decide to try this it is a do so at your own risk if you have any doubts in your ablity i would recomed you save money and have a pro do it.. it is a lot of work and you could ruin your interior. i was very satisfied with mine and everyone i showed it to has asked who did it and when i tell them i did it wth some damn spray paint they cant belive it.

This is good to know. Do you think it will look cheesy just doing this to the center console/shifter surround? Mine is peeling pretty badly and I want to re-do it but want it to match with the rest of the interior.

It won't look cheezy as long as you make it look somewhat stock. If you throw in a yellow or orange, maybe a red then it would look ricey. But if you stick to like a flat black with clearcoat maybe a gloss black and sand it down and do it correctly it will probably turn out great.

Just kidding, I would kill myself before painting my interior a color other than black. I think maybe I'll do my door panels while I'm at it.

Talking

I repainted my interior a couple weeks ago. Heavy duty oven cleaner was used to remove all of the '93 finish material. It general took two to three coats of scrubbing the oven cleaner with a soapless Brillo pad to fully remove all of the finsih. Then, I used a black Rust-oleum Paint for Plastic in a spray can, which doesn't use a primer, I purchased at Home Depot for $5/can. I did three coats for all the pieces and everything came out great. It looks completely stock and everyone comments at how new my interior looks!

I will also try to get some pics of my work up tonight. The only thing which I regret is not taking out the A/C stickers. I tried to cover everything up with tape when using the oven cleaner and painting, but some of the oven cleaner seeped through and removed some of the red color on the temp selector. Now when the lights are turned on, too much amber coloring shows through. Otherwise everything is perfect.

Yep heavy duty oven cleaner is almost an industry secret. Most people spend coutless hours sanding there valve covers, interior, etc...EZ clean oven cleaner strips it in a matter of minutes with just minor sanding after words. Looking foward to see what all your interiors look like.

I was really suprised after I removed the 93' finish material by accident, in one small spot first...then I just did the whole door handle and drivers side after I saw how it looked. I found that if you get all the material off well, you can wax the plastic with automotive wax and it looks great. Looks stock and doesn't look like it was painted. This is a crappy pic but you get the idea.

Where's the pics of your stuff badinfluence?

Here is a pic of the first painting of mine. I didn't like the outcome of a few pieces so i re-sprayed them again. after more sanding.
This is just Dupont NASON single stage paint. Applied with a gravity feed touch-up gun
I just put it back in the car yesterday so i can get more pics and show it in the car. Hope you all can see the pic.

the door panels were drying when these were taken.
