Cusco Type D Strut Bar - WOW!

For those interested in adding a strut bar to their FD, this thing is amazing, I dont know if it is in my mind or what, but I am whippin around corners like I never thought possible.

Also, it fits PERFECTLY center around the mounting brackets and the holes line up to the millimeter!

Go Cusco!

look all over the internet. . . youll find something.

i understand where you come from rxjoey. the FD isnt supposed to have that much flex at the "towers" as it doesnt have a macpherson strut setup. . . its double a-arm or wishbone or something. anyways, its supposed to have reduced flex and a strut brace isnt SUPPOSED to matter. i disagree. . . for some reason it feels VERY good. i was surprised like you are.

have fun.

Looks like the JIC one that I have. I agree that it made a very noticable difference in how the car drove...

It made that much of a difference? *Scratches head*

To me, the tires and suspension did wonders over a strut bar...*shrug*

Match this with their rear brace plus the trunk mounting bars and you'll notice even more difference.

Cantgostraight: is that your engine bay??? That looks like the pettit intake but it seems the accessory air filter is mounted facing forward. The kit I got has is facing the passenger side with the pipe bending through the heat shield. Any info? thanks

That is correct... theretically a strut tower bar is designed to keep the shock from moving around under hard cornering, this rocking back and forth of the shock causes changes in camber in the middle of a turn. This is an issue when a car has a stadard strut suspension. But with the FD it is double wishbone and has one wishbone located near the top of the shock designed to keep this movement from taking place.

Yep took it of the wife's Accord. Have to admit it added 2 seconds to my 1/4 mile time, soon as i get those clear tail lights on Ebay I'm expecting to be in the 17's
Part of the assembley, not like the one on Ebay (uses a transmission mout for dampening. I'm using it to bandaid my drivers mount till I can change it. PS. have 2 available.

Regardless of the design of the suspension and its intentions, a front strut tower will provide a noticeable positive impact. The front end feels much more solid with a strut bar than without one. ANY front strut bar will be a good improvement.

That's Tom's car. He has the Pettit CAI but took out the plumbing pipe for the air pump and BOV, aCRV that hooked to that tubing. The filter is just stuck on the end of the Factory BOV. I think he left the CRV open to atmosphere. He glued the Termo-Tec wrap to the heat shield and covered up the hole the piping that the filter hooked to went through. Hope this answer's your questions. Jack

Hell no, I'd never put the clear tail light's on my car, just a sarcastic reply to the honda torque brace comment. Hell you could double the value of a Honda if you added that mod to it. Jack

I'm just curious: It's advertised that the Cusco D-shaped strut bar gives a bit more clearance because of it's shape. Does it add *that* much more clearance?

I was considering it to replace my R1 bar, because my R1 bar just about touches my HKS intake.

The strut bar does fine. It's the stock suspension that lease a bit to be desired. As far as clearance goes it may be just a tad higher as the top of my bar contacts the padding under the hood, it's still tight underneath the bar.

It's a shock tower brace, NOT an anti-roll bar......

Shock tower braces DO make a small but noticeable improvement, but let's not get carried away here guys.....
