Just out of curiosity....
About how much does each member spend a year on maintenance for the FD.?
And what is the highest mileage on an original engine for and FD w/o a rebuild?
Just questions i was wondering and i havent been able to find the answers.

well, let's see.........I just got my FD and mine was $9800 with a rebuilt engine and the chasis had 88000 miles on it. It cost me near $3000 to get it into full running condition. Maintenance not sure yet but I would asume it's not too hefty but enough to make you go WOW! It is a lot of maintenance I do know that, because my dad use to have a 1st gen. And now that I have an FD he has been helping me and telling me what I should do. I'm having serious engine issues right now, we have to take it back to the shop cause it doesn't even have enough power to get it into 3rd gear. =( very sad and I fear that a seal has already gone out. Damn those crappy seals.

Maintenance per year isnt that bad if you tackle all the reliability mods from the get-go. Have a few grand floating around though ... just in case.
There are people here above 100k on origional motors and turbos.
Average life span is somewhere around 60-65k. (at least that seems to be the general number..)

yup, but if you treat it right it will treat your pocket right with the engine lasting 100k+ miles on engine. Just get reliability mods done and stay on top of maintenance and oil change every 2500 miles (that's when I do mine, and of course don't let it go past 3000).

not bad for a stock car eh? hopefully its not on its last legs like i think. are the life spans of rx's 60-65k because it is driven hard all the time? For those who use it as a daily driver, how many miles can they usually get out of the engine?
