I have just got the C's short shifter kit, but unfortunately the instructions only came in Japaneese ! my question is: on the stock shifter on the bottom there is a metal spring and then there is a lower plastic washer, but it seems impossible that that lower plastic washer can be there anymore when installing the C's shifter, there is simply no space for it ?? the metal spring CAN still be there, but is this right ? Maybe someone has the installationsinstructions for the C's in english ? or if not, could explain me exactly how to install it and what should be there ? I have tried to find C's webpage but could not ! are they out of business ? really hope you could help me out with this, I actually installede the C's without the stock lower plastic washer and it shifts nice and smooth, but I will do it right of course. Thank's.
I installed the C's shifter several years ago (love it by the way). I found the instructions (in Japanese) and I can't remember exactly what it looked like inside. I do remember using the spring in that you don't want slack so that things rattle around. Make sure you get all the "old" parts out! It's a good time to replace the plastic piece at the end of the shifter when you are in there. Also, grease the moving parts and fill the area with trans fluid before reassembly.
Also, take a look at this. . .very similar http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/ssinstal.htm

Thank's for your reply ! ok, so you did NOT reuse the stock bottom plastic washer either, but the spring, this is exactly what I have done now, but I was not 100% sure beacause of the instructions only came in Japaneese ! and I was very unsure, because other shorshifters do reuse that, I know from one of my freinds that the mazdaspeed has to have that in the bottom, but I found out the mazdaspeed is very similar to the stock shifter in design and the C's is not ! Yes, I know to grease it well and for the little plastic cap the shifter came with it brand new, so no problemo here ;o)
Hello KaiFD3S,
Allso thank's to you ! so you have the C's shortshifter ? do you have the instructions in english ?? so, can you confirm that there is no space anymore for that stock bottom plastic washer ? I will post a picture of the stock shifter to show you guys exactly what parts I am talking about.
if you havent finished everything yet, PM the instructions, ill translate the best i can. (or just ask my japanese buddy to translate, he he)
Hello FDdragon,
Thank's for your help, it could be nice to have someone translate the Japaneese instructions ! I do not know how I can PM it to you, as it has been scanned and apparantly you can not send images in a PM ?? I will put it here on this site, maybe the quality is to bad for you to read.

ps. by the way I call my car the Red Dragon he he.
My C's shifter malfunctioned and I am clueless and need help reassembling it. I had replaced the transmission a few months prior and may have swapped the short shifter in incorrectly. I bought new white and blue bushings, wave washers, lower bushing, and inner boot from Mazdatrix in case they are needed. I also have a spare shifter but the inner metal spacer and bushings are different for some reason.
1. Does the stock Mazda bushing fit onto the bottom ball of the C's shifter? I haven't tried popping it on yet but it seems really tight.
2. Do the stock Mazda white and blue bushings interchange with any of the C's bushings?
3. What is the correct order and direction/orientation for the assembly?
4. The Japanese instructions posted above seem to show the gasket between the spacers however shouldn't it be under the rubber boot? (boot comes from Mazda with a gasket)
Thanks.
Parts on left are new. Parts on right are from shifter. old bushings and new blue and white bushings I have this other Mr. C's shifter that has different bushings. Not sure why.
