Cryotreated differential - worth it?

Short and to the point:
Would cryotreating the differential help enough to justify the cost?

Thanks.

If this is for a drag race car, just go with a Ford 8.8 or something.

The reason it grenades has more to do with the torsen LSD than the diff itself(or so I've read).

If it's not for drag racing, you shouldn't really be worried about it. Do the bushings and a diff brace and you should be good.

Oh wait, you're that dude with the LS1 FD in MD, aren't you? Yeah, in that case, just get a Ford 8.8 rear.

I have a set of delrin bushings already.

It's a road race / street vehicle. I'm assuming that as long as I'm not launching the thing, I should be fine?

I say if you have the money and time, do it! Also make sure you do it thru reputable shop vs someone else... I've done extensive reading about this procedure and just getting it into Liq N2 doesn't means its cryo treated..

Personally, I could do small parts (thru my work) but I don't think its beneficial for me as I don't even push my car to its limit... nor do I go thru enough diff or tranny to justify my time or cost to send it off somewhere.....

I shipped them my brand new TII clutch type diff and had them cryo-treat it. Very happy with pricing and customer service

Considering that the housings tend to split wide open, and cryo usually improves the toughness of cast iron, it's not a bad idea.

It also can help to treat the ring and pinion.

Will this diff never break? No. But if going to another diff is not an option and the diff is already torn apart it would be a worthwhile thing to do.
