The first thing to check is the brake switch -- see if the brake lights are still lighting up when you push the brakes. If not, replacing the brake switch will also "fix" the cruise control.

If it's not the brake switch, then move on to the fuses controlling the cruise control.

I checked the brake lites and they worked. Does the cruise control have a seperate fuse?

It's not a question of whether or not your brake lights are working. They have nothing to do with cruise. It's often a problem with the switch on the brake pedal.

I was under the impression the main point of the brake switch WAS to cause the brake lights to come on....when my brake switch went out, I had no brake lights (and no cruise, obviously).

cruise dead

I have cruise control on my FD as a stock item, but ever since I got the car it has not worked. The little amber light on the cruise control "on" button comes on, but the green "cruise" light on the guage does not. My cruise has never worked, and I want to work soooo bad. Keep my tickets down. Mabye fuel too!!!

LOL, ya got me. Apologies. I was in my office and got a bit distracted I guess...thinking there were two switches, even though I know better.

Still, if continuity is OK, could it be a problem in free-play of the brake or clutch pedal?

On my gen 2, the question of whether or not my cruise worked was actually dependant on a switch beneath the CLUTCH pedal. this switch also determined the activity of the shift light, which i hated and wanted disabled. I had a penny glued to the hole beneath the clutch that forced the switch to engage. But I hated my shift light and didn't give a good god damn about cruise so I took it off.... But then again that was a second gen.

This may seem like a dumb thing to suggest, but I've seen more than one car where the cable from the cruise actuator was not attached to the throttle body.

does the light come on on the switch and just not on the dash? does your horn work? if the light on the switch does not come on check fuses.
