Couple Tuning Questions

Alright first off, im about to get tuned with my Power FC. my first question is with intake, FMIC, downpipe, catback, and the Power FC, am i safe to run 14lbs? my second question is, after i get tuned, say i wanted to throw a mid pipe on..would i have to do something with the ECU or would i be ok to just bolt it on and go? thanks for your help

The answer to the second question is: you should have your PFC re-tuned if you install a midpipe.

Yup, retune after each new mod. A midpipe will increase flow dramtically and could cause you to lean-out.

ok thats helpful, only question...he said the fuel pump is good up to 300 rwhp, i know after i get tuned i will have more than this, cuz i have intake, FMIC, downpipe, and catback, and ill be running 14lbs of boost, but im only runnin 7lbs right now since im on the stock ECU, so the question is after i get tuned, will the fuel pump still only be good for 300 rwhp or will that rise...either way im going to start looking into a upgraded FP...also would i be safe to install a midpipe, then drive 45 minutes on the stock ECU to get tuned...would installing the midpipe on the stock ECU be a bad idea? just to drive 45 minutes? thanks again

I wanna say no to you question here. But can't you keep the midpipe in your car and then install once you reach your destination, then get it tuned.

As for your question about running 14lbs of boost, you will need to get a new fuel setup such as new injectors and/or rail with a fuel pump. The ECU can be tuned to do that it's jus the capacity of the fuel system will limit you to about 12lbs.

yes, the stock fuel pump is only good to about 13 psi and thats pushing it, not to mention that your fuel injectors will almost be maxed out which is not a good thing either. You will need a new fuel system to support 14psi safely.

If you are going to run a midpipe, then I recommend doing the following BEFORE tuning:

1. Install the midpipe and PFC now.
2. Richen up the base PFC map in boost areas by several % to make for a safe map.
3. Add restrictor plates into the exhaust until you can maintain 10 psi without creep.

This way, you can get tuned up to your fuel system limit (probably 12-13 psi) with the midpipe and you won't run into boost control or creep issues on the dyno, which will cut your tuning session short real quick.
