Stock fuel pump, how much hp?
Stock fuel pump, how much hp?
i couldn't find the answer in the search... Simple question: approximately how much horsepower can the stock fd fuel pump allow for?
My mods are
Dp
hi-flow cat
Rb Catback
Blitz SMIC with 99spec duct
custom cold air intakes
hard intake piping
pfc-commander-fc-datalogit
Tuned for 14 psi on stock sequential twins?
Is this too much for the stock fuel pump? i know the stock injectors can allow up to 360hp, so im not worried about that.
Thanks for the help

I was told by Rob Golden, at Pineapple racing, that the stock fuel pump is reliable up to about 300 rwhp. With your mods, and 14 psi, I would expect that you are around 320 rwhp with a good tune. You should upgrade the fuel pump to be safe. The supra pump is a perfect fit for what you have, and will be an easy install.
From the FAQ:
31) How do I turn up the boost?
Allowing the stock system to run above 11psi is not advisable without modifying the stock ECU, since it isn't programmed to respond to boost above 12psi. As well, the fuel system is limited to 13psi. Once those systems are upgraded, boost level can be controlled by installing a manual valve in place of the wastegate acutator restrictor pill, or installing a pill with a smaller orifice. BOV settings do not affect working boost level.
So yeah, I'd upgrade your fuel pump.

For 350 rwhp and higher all you need to do is rewire the stock pump or put a boost a pump contoller on it to bump up the voltage. 400 rwhp or less, replacing the pump is a waste.

^^Kyle is referring to hotwiring the pump to the battery with a relay. It allows the pump to see ~13.5v at all times. I plan to perform this mod soon (hopefully this weekend) and will post up instructions and pics.
My dad's FD has been running ~320 rwhp with the stock fuel system for a number of years now with no problems.

thanks for the reply, im tight on cash right now so buying a new fuel pump isn't an option. I was looking for 320-340rwhp, so i think i will be okay for a while. Ill try not to push the car very much until i get a denso, or walboro.

Walboro is only 90.00 from ebay.

How reliable is the pump when hot wired this way?
^^ Who knows, it will be pulling more rpm that's for sure.
I've had a brand new upgraded intank pump fail in 1000 miles so you might need to watch fuel pressure for the signs no matter what pump you run at any voltage.

What is a good upgrade? pump? Supra, Bosch 044 and Walbro 250 are the most common to be found and used I think.
Which one is the most reliable and has best performance.
I was told the Bosch is more expensive, has a tad less flow capacity but keeps the best fuel pressure under load.
