Counterweight installation

I was putting the couterweight in just a little earlier and it doesn't seem like it wants to slide very far down the e-shaft. How far is it supposed to go in? Should it almost be flush with the face of the engine?

Sorry, rear counterweight. I'm installing a new clutch and flywheel in my friend's car. I install the counterweight and it didn't appear like it would go any farther, but it didn't seem like it went far at all. I continued with the installation, got it all done then tried to turn it on. DAMMIT. I could hear/feel the starter try to go, but the flywheel won't budge. I jacked the car back and and took some of the **** off and sure enough, the flywheel won't budge. I need to know what i did wrong so when I take it apart again tomorrow, I can get it right.

Did you line the E-shaft key up right??? (the bar that goes between counterweight/E-shaft)


How long were the bolts you used to secure the flywheel to the counterweight???


The only thing I can think of that would stop the engine from turning is the bolts going threw the counterweight and hitting the rear main seal.....

I'm pretty sure I was able to turn it before I put the bell housing on. The bolts I used to secure the flywheel to the counterweight did not pass the surface level on the back of the counterweight.

I'm not quite sure what you mean buy lining up the bar that goes between the counterweight/e-shaft. I don't think I was able to move that thing around at all. You are talking about the shaft that the pilot bearing goes in, right?

Hopefully it won't take me too long to get everything back off tomorrow. None of the bolts should free since I already had them off. I just wanna make sure that i don't put it back together and have the same thing happen tomorrow.

Is that center part of the counterweight supposed to go down inside the rear main seal or not?
