Question Correct way to mount Sparco gas cap?

I bought the Sparco gas cap and I have no idea on the best way to mount it. My car is getting painted right now so I decided to install the cap now due to the body work involved to get a flush fit. Has anybody installed this cap on their car or know someone who has?

It's sad but, I don't fully trust them. I want it done correctly. Not just welded in with a bunch of bondo slapped around it and sanded. I'm very picky, especially when it comes to my car. It's very hard to find reputable shops that have made a name for themselves here in San Antonio, TX. At least without spending $10,000.

Because the sparco cap is smaller than the covering you are supposed to weld some metal around the soroundings to make the fit.
