Corbeau seats and the FD

Not sure how many people saw my post earlier about Corbeau seats and the fd. Here is a quick background. I contacted Corbeau a few weeks ago about a bracket for the 3rd gens. They do not currently make one, but I have just had my car at their fab shop in Utah getting one fitted.

They just called me to let me know that their A4 (reclinable) seat as well as their Forza (non-reclineable) seat fit into the 3rd gens. My main concern in replacing the seat is head room along with leg room between the steering wheel and seat. Since i'm 6'3" tall these two places are the areas of concern for me. I was hoping for their CR1 seat to fit in there, since i found it the most comfortable.

I have not yet received the full details on distance gained or lost due to the seats, but should know within the next day or two. They also mentioned that they were interested in getting the word out on the availability for the 3rd gen. They mentioned that they would be willing to work some sort of deal with both the seats and brackets. Not to step on any toes or break any rules, but they mentioned a group buy would be available through them.

As a preliminary figure, (NOT DEFINATE) they indicated that the brackets would run for about 60$ a piece which was their cost to get them made, and the seats well below retail. I was looking at the CR1 seat which retails at 400 and they mentioned that they could take about 100 off that so I would assume that a similar discount would be made for the other seats. Again, I will post this in the group buy section once i get details as to pricing and such if there is enough interest.

Sorry for the long post,

Blaine

Group buy...hmmm, I was looking at that seat and then convinced myself to spend the 350 elsewhere, how much with the group buy for the CR1(my favorite and most comfortable in my opinion)

For all interested in putting the CR1/Torino style seats in their car: DO NOT waste money on their rails. You're going to end up using your own stock sliders anyway. It won't bolt directly in even with their hardware so you're better off using your stock ones, they're actually easier to adapt.

If you read the beginning of his message, Corbeau is attempting to make rails that will work with the FD. However, people have been waiting on that for a while, so the proof will be in the puddling if they can deliver. Here's more on the topic:

....or you could save the extra money and use your stock sliders. That $100 could go toward a set of harnesses, etc.

For some people, not having to fabricate brackets (or extensions) would be worth the extra $$$. To some, it would be a waste of money.

I bolted my Forza II right to the floor since it sat way to high with sliders. I wanted to fit with my helmet on and the sliders just make any seat to high for me (6'1 220)

Just wanted to post an update on the project. They finished all of their measurements and have a prototype bracket they are working with. They said that there might be the loss of about 1/2 inch with the bracket, but that they can shave off a bit of the lower cushion to get this space back as well as about another 1/2 an inch.

I asked them about the fitment of the CR1 seat and they indicated that the only thing that doesn't fit is the lever used to adjust the seat. I am working with them on the possiblity of reversing the seats to put that lever on the inside rather than the outside to get that seat to fit comfortably. As soon as the holidays are over, I am taking the rx7 back up to their fitment center to test the new bracket and work test further seat fitment.

For anyone who wants to check out their seats, they are very good quality and are also comfortable.

We know for sure that both the A4 and Forza seats fit without any issues. I should know about the CR1 shortly after New Years.
