Copyright infringement

Apparently another thread was closed when I exposed Steven Hyde of Performance Group Unlimited as a copyright infringer. He stole an animation from RotaryEngineIllustrated.com for use in hocking his snake-oil product, after I expressly refused to permit such use. Here is his reply to my order to comply with my wishes:
Mr. Qualley,
I regret to inform you that based on your prior decision to deny authorization of the use of your animation, we had to spend the addition resources to create our own source code and formatting for animation on Performance Group Unlimited, LLC. Your animation is in .mov format which is a QuickTime animation format. My source code was written and is executed in .gif format which is different than your animation on www.rotaryengineillustrated.com. Please provide me the copyright number to which you base your claim so I may have my lawyer review your request and determine if the .gif format is indeed a possible copyright infringement. Once a determination has been reached I will remove the animation if the findings show a copyright infringement.
Interesting...he copied the animation, converted it to .gif format, then claims ownership. He knows nothing of copyright law! Copyright number? Ha! Lawyer will be called Tuesday morning, when I return to Seattle. Anyone doing business with this thief needs to be warned.

Thanks, I haven't even updated the web site in two years, yet people still steal material and pass it off as their own! This is not the first time. What I can't believe is that he asked permission, then used it anyway after being told 'no'. Changing format does not change who created it.

I find it real hard to believe that Steven would infringe upon a copyright. Doesn't sound anything like the businessman we are finding him to be around here.

If you don't believe it, go to my web site! I created those animations in 2001. I can also copy you the entire series of emails of him requesting to use the animation and me telling him "no". He even admits I told him "no", so he reformatted the files and now claims ownership. You might not know me because I don't participate much on the forum, but I've been around for many, many years.

I think Senseny was being sarcastic, from what I saw in a couple of the other 'anti-det' threads, he's no friend of Steven Hyde:

I have reviewed the claim with my lawyer and it was determined to remove the animation to avoid further confrontation. Since I did create the new source code for the animation, I will be changing color, size, shape, tone, speed, and other attributes to ensure no one mistakes my animation from the one located at Blake’s site.

Thanks,

Steven
