cooling system problem

hey guys upper radiator is keep collapsing when the car shuts down. also i think there is too much pressure when the car is on becuse the upper radiator hose is pretty much rock hard. any ideas????

How old is the cap on the AST?

i have mazdacomp radiator. as far as collase goes, when the car is shut off, after a while you can see that the hose kinda of collase inwards. when i release the pressure by taking the cap off, the ite hose will pop back to nornal.

You radiator hose is collapsing because the system is not able to draw coolant back in as it cools.

This means there is somehow a clog or restriction either in the neck or the hose that leads to the overflow tank. Do you still have an AST or have you eliminated it? First thing I would try is swapping to the old cap, if the problem persists ensure that the hose to the overflow is clear.

i have the ast bypass kit. i'll try the cap the kit came with. thanks for the info guys.

I would definetly check what DamonB said, and check to see the hose to the overflow tank is'nt pinched either.
After the cars run awhile is there much water in the overflow tank
