Cooling Engine Down at Idle provokes anomaly

Hello,

I'm new to the forums and to Rx-7's

Anyways I have a 93 RX-7 with 45,000 miles and I usually let it idle until the exhaust gas temp drops below 500C I have noticed that the EGT drop a lot faster if I have the A/C on full blast. Is this a miss sensing of the gauge or do the turbo's cool down alot faster with the A/C blowing.

great looking car.

could be air from fans blowing over exh manifold and down pipe, cool the metal, and influence egt's. this could offset the slight load due to ac compressor.

Why? Your oil and water temperatures are most likely rising as you sit with no airflow through the oil cooler(s) and radiator. The radiator fans will eventually come on when the water temperature gets high enough (94-100C depending on load) but it would be best that the water temperature did not get that high.

The fans are on all the time with the AC is switched on, which may explain your EGT results.

Yeah i use my AC switch and my turbo timer to keep the fans on for 5 or 6 minutes after i cut my car off.
