Coolant temp sensor?

Which is the temp sender that controls the guage. The one with 2 prongs or the one with one prong?

the one in the front controls the gauge. the one beneath all the crap on top of the engine is the one that controls the fans

i am fairly sure about this, because my temp gauge worked fine but my fans didnt, so i replaced the one sensor facing the firewall. fans now work fine.

The one in the front is the low level coolant sensor. There are two on the back of the water pump housing, one on top of each other. The top one is the water temp sensor, the bottom one is a thermal switch..

All of them. But the gauge is activated by the top one on the back of the water pump housing.

are you sure? i dont mean to disagree... but my gauge worked fine. it worked before i replaced the top one. i thought the front was the low level sensor and the top was the temp sensor for the fans. and the bottom was for the gauge. hmmmmm i am going to go get my manual later and post again after i read it. sorry if i am confused.
