Exclamation Coolant Leak Story

Well guys I'm about to tell you a story of what happened to me for not listening to the experts on the 7s. I ignored on replacing the coolant hoses while swapping my new motor in... I know I know~ I should be punished for doing such a stupid thing. I ofcourse learned this the hard way.

After a week of driving, I'm at a parking lot in my college to pick up my girl friend and I suddenly see a small amount of smoke coming up from the hood. I killed my engine and popped the hood and to my surprise there was a small thin stream of coolant spraying outwards like blood squirting out from a slit throat. Oh man~ it was from the top radiator hose that connects directly to the engine. A small area had opened up right where the clamp was holding the hose on. It stopped after few minutes of this happening.

I still had to some how drive my car back to my other parking space since I was in the middle of picking my girl friend up. So luckily I had left overs from my silicone hose job in my trunk, I cut a piece in half and reinforced the leak so the opening would be sealed temporarily. During the process of figuring out to see if it was covered or not the annoying coolant beeping sound was going off! It was driving me nuts! So I was able to seal it for now and drive it back to my parking space.

So now I'm in the process of waiting for my hoses (top and bottom) form Ray at Malloy's. He gave me an awsome deal with free shipping, and he even remembered my name :p

Anyways guys this is to everyone who is (or maybe just me?) not checking up on their coolant hoses, remember they are just as important to your engine!

Same thing happened to me.....are you talking about the short hose that comes out at the top of the waterpump housing? That thing was a biatch for me. It leaked 2 or 3 times (I fixed the leak after each time, cutting the hose back and not clamping as tight). I need to replace them soon.

Did you flush the system out every single time you had to remove the hose and cut it? I haven't tried it without flushing the coolant out first each time I pulled the hose off.

I can't remember the code for it but its the paint they use for Dodge Vipers so if you perhaps look it up under Dodge Viper PPG paint you should be able to find it. Thank you for the comment ^_^
