Coolant leak isolated to one of the thread in sensors behind water pump tower

Following someone's suggestion to pressurize my cooling system to isolate a coolant leak,
I discovered it's one of the thread in sensors behind water pump tower, which is consistent with where
coolant was puddling on the ground and amount of coolant I lost.
All my hose + clamp connections appear to be holding OK under pressure.
One is a coolant temp sensor, I can't recall what the second sensor is for.

I'm hoping I can access both by just removing the alternator, and not the vertical hard actuator lines ?
Are these sensors supposed to be threaded in with, or without using teflon tape on sensor threads ?

I don't know whether to just tighten them a bit more, or pull them and install them again,
but will probably do both if I can reach them with a wrench.

Thanks

Those sensors use a tiny thin o-ring to make the seal, if you have a leak at a sensor it is probably a bad o-ring. I know that you can access the fan thermoswitch with just the alternator removed, as I have done this myself. The o-rings generally don't go bad though but they can't really be reused either as they flatten out over time.

Use PFTE thread sealant. Don't over torque it, it's aluminum. FSM should list torque spec

Those aren't pipe thread. Top sensor takes a sealing washer. The bottom gets an oring.

Been a while, but IIRC I ended up just removing both sensors to access the lower (fan thermoswitch). YRMV
