coolant flush, can i run garden hose water to flush only?

i know that i should only use distilled water for the mix that's actually gonna stay in the radiator but can i use garden hose water to JUST flush out the radiator/old coolant ?

bay area FD owners (or any others for that matter )
should i be using
- 50 antifreeze / 50 water
- 60 antifreeze / 40 water
- 70 antifreeze / 30 water
?

thanx

I'd stick w/ flushing w/ distilled water just to be on the safe side. It's only a couple more bucks anyways.

I'm not in the bay area, but I'd say 70% water, 30% coolant. I'm running about 90% water.

I don't see any problem using the garden hose water to flush if you are doing it multiple times or plan on really cleaning it out by letting the water flow through the system for 5 minutes or so. I would do the last flush/drain with distilled, and then use distilled for the final fill. Your coolant cocktail is your choice, but in an area where it does not freeze, using distilled and a bottle of Water Wetter has worked just fine for me for the past five years, and this will give you the ultimate ability to cool when it does get hot.

Just keep in mind that if you drive to the mountains and park outside overnight in sub freezing weather it could cost you an engine.

Definitly from the bottom, if you're just replacing the plugs that is. Dont forget to use anit-sieze.

I did the flush myself, and all I used was the jack from the car and rose the car up from the driver side. Remember to empty out the coolant from the block as well.

Go to the parts store and buy a couple of ramps. You can drive the car up on them and get under the car easily. They are not expensive.

ditto

I'm running 80% water though.

the ramp idea is a good one too, but you must used jackstands!!! i got pics of how to make a ramp set using the blitz ramps as well as the ultraramp extensions so you can get cars that are as low as 4 inchs in the from on to them with out scraping.

i'm done ... i'm tired... i'm sore

from 4:15pm - 12:45am

draining and flushing and filling and more draining and more flushing and more filling
and changed the spark plugs too.... wow are they a b*tch!!!

well that was my first time doing both and i can safely say that i'd love to NOT do either one again (even tho i will ) anyways, it should be a lot faster next time and i'll begin at an earlier time too; had to work with a maglite to light up my working space

anyone feel claustrophobic ?
