I have the infamous “coolant boiling/bubbling sound” after driving my car for a short time and it freaked me out the first time. After some research, I found that deleting the AST usually solves the issue.
Well, it just so happens my car came with a new Chase Bays upper water neck and AST delete kit and new radiator hoses. I figured why not try to knock out two birds with one stone.
The problem is I can’t find a damn thing about anyone installing this online, and their install pictures don’t show anything fully hooked up, just the housing mocked up with no peripherals attached.
The other thing I’m confused about is my stock filler neck looks to have an extra sensor on it that I haven’t seen in any other FD’s:
Does anyone know what this sensor is and if I can delete it, since I don’t see it on other stock housing? The Chase Bays kit has a port to swap the black sensor over to, and one for aftermarket turbo coolant routing, but not for what looks like an extra coolant temp sensor.
Am I screwed with this Chase Bays kit? Should I leave the housing alone and just flush the coolant/try burping the system again? Car has 6100kms, caps seem in good condition.
Pretty sure that sensor is something relevant to AT cars... I think. Either way its not important. That chase bays thing is definitely a statement lol. I would suggest dumping it, buying a stock 2pc filler neck and do the delete the traditional way with an fc filler neck cap. A 6xxxKM car shouldn't have something like that in it.

My car was auto-to-manual converted so that makes sense if it’s only found in auto cars.
it is definitely something 😂 and since I’m literally the only person I’ve seen have it, it’s kind of a rare, discontinued statement piece? The car already has HKS intakes, PowerFC, full exhaust, coil overs, so I’m not necessarily concerned with pUriTy. I just want to make my car as reliable and enjoyable as possible.
No, not "a rare, discontinued, statement piece." As I recall, Chase Bays was known for being on the borderline between mediocre and junk.
You probably haven't seen any other cars with it because no other owners wanted to waste money on it.
Just because you have it and you can, doesn't necessarily mean you should.
Also a fair point. I haven’t heard much about them, I only recognize the name from Nissan and Toyota scenes. It’s just $free.99 and if it works, it works. If not, I’ll still have all the old stock stuff

Correct, I've an AT car as well and have that sensor. If I'm not mistaken, it changes the AT shift pattern once the engine is warmed.
I did the AST delete and can vouch for Banzai's solution.

I did, and do as well. But the OP has a one piece filler neck which isn't compatible with Banzai’s piece…and even maybe redundant.
I think I’d first replace at least the filler cap (w/OEM) and then pressure test the system. You can rent the testers free with a deposit from most chain parts stores. If good, I’d think about getting a Lisle funnel, re-burping and refilling after a couple cool down cycles and see if the sounds go away.

Thank you for the input everyone! This was also the other option I saw floating around the internet so I will try this as well.
So I completely flushed the cooling system, changed out the radiator hoses, and was thorough with my cooling system burping. Now the bubbling/boiling sound seems to be gone after a few drives where it hasn’t returned. No AST delete yet. Guess it was probably just old coolant and maybe some air in the system? Which is weird because it never overheated before but oh well. Onto the next project!
