Thumbs up cool new gauge pod!

Just got my new gauge pod a few days ago and thought i would share some pics and impression.

very nice quality on this thing, I am not sure what its made out of almost looks like some type of composite.
does not look like it would melt or anything under sunlight.

snaps into the stock center speaker location and looks pretty sweet

I had the 3 gauges below the a/c controls and liked them being kind of out of site. but that was the problem, i would constantly have to look over and down. gauges are much easier to see now at a glance.

i got this from flyrx7 his page is http://hometown.aol.com/flyrx7/Rx7-Gauge-Pod.html
also has one that will hold 4 gauges.

some pics in my car

it was very easy to install. pop the cover off where the speaker was and 4 screws and a connector and that was it.

it took me a few mins to fish the wire down to my defi control unit but it was not bad.

as far as the stereo goes, i am in the process of ditching the whole bose setup so I cant say as far as sound goes.

its not good to keep the key in the IGN position without the car being on. those guges look like they are pointing down, is that really what they are doing or is that the angle of the pic?

I love the gauge pod. Will it fit my Apexi EL gauges?? Or only the Defi gauges?

The gauges sit flush on the dash so they angle a little down to the driver.

i think this is a diff company that is making these. not the same as the tripower pod.

the key was in the ign position for a sec while i snapped the pic. i know not to leave it on to fry out the coil/ignitor whatever

the apexi gauges should fit as well. i think any 52mm one will work.

I am happy with this so far.

Apexi only makes 60mm gauges.

as far as i know the top link is the only place that sells them at this time.

flyrx7 is the one who made it and so far the only one i know that sells it.

i had no problems ordering from him and got the pod within a few days.

Hey guys, didn't even know about this thread until now. Nice to see you guys like em'. As far as who sells these things it is just me, for now. I am considering an offer from a well known rotary shop to resale these, but needed to replenish my stock, I sold out faster than I had planned. There are certain gauges that will not fit, any gauge (52mm, 2" and 2-1/16") that is over 1-5/8" deep (gauge body behind bezel) will not fit without a special spacer ring. I am currently reseaching a way to accomodate deeper gauges without the need for the ring, but I have been to busy lately fabricating. I do not offer a (2) gauge pod at this time, I don't like the way the speaker grill shape is still seen on a 2 gauge setup. I'm also prototyping a 60mm setup too. Also have some universal mounts being offered. Go to my page for further info or search the forums, I have a few more threads around that detail these further.

Regards,
Frank

As noted in my post above, I'm working on a 60mm setup, possibly in a 2 gauge pod but definetely in a 3 gauge pod. Looks will be similar, only bigger. Check out my home page and note that I offer a 4 gauge setup ("Quad-Pod") as well in the 52mm, it is special order though. Stay tuned, more info forthcoming!

Regards,
Frank

I've asked this question in a couple of other threads, but I need to get some 60mm gauge dimensions. If you want to help contribute to some R&D, and want a center speaker gauge pod in the 60mm variety, I will give all that reply a discount on the forthcoming 60mm gauge pods. What I need is the depths of the gauges from behind the bezel to the back of the gauge body as well as the outside diameter of the front gauge bezel, include the make and model of gauge, please use an accurate measuring device (dial caliper, etc). My goal is to be able to accomodate the majority, if not all, of gauges on the market. To qualify, be the first to answer the following with hard data (Mfg spec sheets, actual dims of one you have in hand, etc.). Also, you only qualify if a Boost gauge is different in dimensions from a Fuel Pressure gauge, etc, not the same (although special consideration may be given) . What I'm looking for is the deepest, biggest, 60mm gauge, as well as some imperical data so as to accomodate a wide range of 60mm gauges (I probably should have done this with the 52mm as well) so as to make sure everyone can be accomodated. For every new data point (make, model, gauge bezel (outside diameter) and gauge body depth) I will give you $5 bucks off. So if you are the first to post that an Apexi boost gauge is 1.25" (31.75mm) deep, with an outside bezel diameter of 2-9/16" (65mm), I will give you $20 bucks off the purchase of the final 60mm gauge pod that comes off of the drawing board ($5 bucks each for make, model, bezel diameter and gauge body depth, I will even give you $10 bucks off for every actual 60mm gauge you send me too ) Maximum individual discount will be $20.00 though (can't give em' away ) Please post publicly to this thread (so the competition can prosper at my expense ), first posted is first awarded (only if you order) This offer is non-transferable. I'm sure I should have a bunch of fine print at the bottom of this post, but you get the picture (I hope). I will try my best to be fair.

Cut and paste questionaire:
Make:
Model:
Outside bezel diameter:
Gauge body depth (behind bezel):
Mode of measurement (no guesstimations):

Ok, I think you get the picture, thanks in advance for your help.

Ps. I reserve the right to pass judgement on the nitty- gritty aspects that this questionaire will surely bring to bare

Regards,
Frank
