Controlling boost in different gears

I'm thinking of getting a boost controller because I'm seeing boost spikes up to 12.5 psi in 2nd gear on my mostly stock '94 (just has a racing beat catback, although a new downpipe is coming later this week). In 3rd gear I only spike to 11. If I get a 'simpler' boost controller like the profec b that does not allow gear specific settings will I end up controlling 2nd gear boost to 10 psi and then 3rd will end up only being 9? I would like to to be able to set one so that I can get a consistent 10-8-10 in all gears (or at least close).

I've read just about every post I can find on boost controllers and have not found the answer. I'm just trying to figure out if I need a more advanced boost controller or not. Thanks!

The Profec B works just fine. I haven't noticed problems with different boost levels between gears. If you are that worried about it (and I wouldn't be), then the Apexi AVC-R will control boost per gear. Of course, it has other issues and costs twice as much as the Profec B.....

The Apex'i AVCR lets you control boost based on gear. The Blitz SBC-iD with the PowerMeter lets you do it based on speed.

Really any controller will let keep your boost solid if you install it right. So it really depends on what kind of perks you want. Personally I have a Blitz SBC-iD with the PowerMeter add on and its awesome. Very reliable too. People say it has one of the best solenoids out there. Its very compact as well as most of the unit is hidden away and you only see a compact remote with a built in boost gauge that allows you to set 4 different levels. So you can have a high boost setting for racing and then turn it down to help on gas mileage.

But ultimately they all do the same thing, others just have lots of neat little extras.

I was going to get the EVC 5 but I will end up with the Blitz SBC-ID since I heard it is more user friendly....and a plus is the dual solenoid...

I was thinking about the apexi AVC-R; what other issues are you referring to? Would you need this unit even if you have the PFC? Doesn't the PFC have a boost control in it? Any and all information would be much appreciated!

Oh, man! You can't throw a carrot out like that and leave us hanging. What issues did you have with this unit. I am considering buying one, and would like to know if I'm in for some headache.

well actually it turned out to be nothing to do with the AVC-r, the waste gate flaper got suck is my guess....becuase the avc-r was at a 100%boost duty trying to bring it back down.

I spiked to 1.13bar on a stock ecu, and hit the fuel cut.

and now my car has like half the power it did
