i am real tempted to buy this easy bolt on +12-17 hp oversized main drive pulley.

what adverse effects does underdriving the engine to free up horsepower have on other anciliaries (ps,ac,alt,wp) ?

i need my ac running 100% and my alternator needs to power my~1000 watt stereo.

id like to hear from users of the power pulley.

I don't know if it's the same with this car, but many companies suggest not underdriving the alternator when you're running over 800 watts to a stereo. I believe you'll also see a loss in your AC's capabilities if you underdrive it therefore not allowing it to work 100% as you'd like

If you need full A/C and have a big *** stereo, I wouldn't use one.

The above is good but, I would slow down the water pump so it will not cavitate ( sp ) , put a bigger pulley on the water pump .

IMO, that only becomes important in a road racing situation where the car is at high rpms for several minutes at a time. Judging by how many owners here seem to actually track their cars (drag strip doesn't count...), I don't think this is an issue for most.

On the other hand, at low speed situations, your water pump is moving coolant more slowly through the cooling system. This would seem to be a negative thing....

You won't even see the 12-17 hp from the pulley. If you want to have the a/c all the time and the stereo, keep the pulley stock.

Currently I don't have either. It's something I've considered doing since the highest watt stereo I'll probably run is around 600 or so, and right now my A/C isn't working anyway so I may just pull it over the winter or so.

if you check with most companies that produce the underdrive pulleys or sets of pulleys they'll give you a rough estimate of what is allowable stereo wise and how it will affect your A/C. Most will claim the difference is not noticeable but on a hot day running more than one accessory your A/C will take a hit, and like I said before the average for the allowable stereo power is 800 watts or so, but again I'd check with the manufacturer.

i am not looking at the engine right now, but arent their 2 pullies to run both belts? i assume, if thats the case, only one gets replaced. is that one the alt or the ac belt?

i still would like to hear from an ac loving power pulley user.

Both the ac/power sterring belt and the airpump/water pump belt share the main pulley. Changing that one will slow everything down.

Raj,
I believe that the pulley is one piece so you would end up replacing both that you see and underdriving all accesories. I may be wrong about that so someone that has done the install could probably chime in and give you a better idea.
