Compression numbers Question

OK so I removed the entire engine and transmission out of the car. I hooked up an oil line from the filter pedestal to the return line below crank pulley. I hooked up a battery to the starter and did a compression test using a piston engine tester.

Engine cold.

225-250 rpm it shows 65 psi for the rear and 95 psi for the front.

I squirted a little 30W mineral oil and

rear showed 90 psi but you can tell the pulses were uneven. Front showed 120 psi.

I know the rear lost compression (cracked apex seal?) so the engine needs a rear housing and seals.

Question: Is this normal to get 20% higher number just from squirting a little oil? Is this normal?

it is.. it's a common technique we use when we de-flood rotary engines. squirt of ATF into the plug hole UPS compression in order to get it starting again.

Sooo as dguy say, yes that is normal.

We use 2 stroke as well, it doesn't foul out the plugs like regular oil and doesn't smoke as much as ATF.
