compression

so i have no compression, when i turn over the engine all i hear is a whirling sound and am not sure what the problem is, i assume the engine was flooded and there is no oil to produce a seal. would this be a correct assumption or could it be something else

Even if flooded you should hear be able to hear the compression when the Spark Plugs are removed. A compression tester is $19.99 at Wal Mart/any auto store.

The one time I heard a motor that spun very quickly and made a 'whirring' noise when cranked it had zero compression on all faces. The FD had been driven by an older gentleman who babied it and rarely rev'ed it to redline and upon teardown the amount of carbon buildup was unbelievable. It was a mostly stock car, stock ecu.

mine is stock with stock ecu. the thing that gets me is that one day it started fine and the next it spun very fast and made that noise. is it possible that one day it starts and the next it builds up carbon like that

Did you start the car up and shut it down shortly thereafter? could just be flooded.

Remove one spark plug per rotor and see if they're wet with fuel.

i did happen to do that yes, i moved it from outside to my garage because i was going on a vacation and had a fire in the engine bay the previous day. the fire is not the cause of this i have repaired the fire damage which was very little. the car was running for about 2 minutes which i know is not good and i probibly sholdnt have started it in the first place. but is this somewhat common symptoms for flooded engines?
