Common Turbo Replacements

Ok... looking at keeping the idea of Twin Turbo and not converting to single turbo on the RX7

Any advantages/disadvantages not converting from twin to single ?

Whats good replacement turbos for twin if wanting around 500bhp or not possible?

Just sorta planning what were going todo with Engine

And whats a good turbo on market that would be kool for this job ?

this is a good place to start with those questions...

http://www.fd3s.net/turbos.html

you might also want to check out goodfellas experience with the BNR's

finally before you start all of that...you might want to check your pocket book. Single conversion can get expensive. Shooting for 500 hp is expensive. Good luck.

Dang. You must be the first person to post about this....

Maybe using the search function is in your near future...

Or not....

But it probably should be.

Advantages: Cost, retain emissions, spool up time, great street driveability
Disadvantages: Not nearly as much top end power, more complicated sequential system that is prone to failure, the stock twins produce a LOT of heat.

Not possible with the stock twins (not even close, good cars make 330 rwhp reliably). BNR twins make pretty serious power, but more like 380 - 400 rwhp on pump gas (although they can make probably up to 430 - 450 on race gas with high boost).

The stockers, 99 spec twins (pretty much the same as the stockers, but slightly better response and NEW), or BNR rebuilt twins. If you have you heart set on the highest possible horsepower with twins, get the BNR's. If you want 300-330 rwhp, stick with the stockers or 99 spec.

now search .

There are also aftermarket, parallel twin systems if you just want twins and aren't necessarily interested in using stock style twins.

Expect to spend $10K minimum, likely more, to get everything working right and running reliably (assuming you want to drive it rather than have a show queen).

Think its gonna be single then !

Money = No Object , just wanted something special and you always here single turbo big power RX7, would have thought it had been kool todo a twin turbo massive power RX7 !

But the heat is something i'd be worried about with the twins !

Will do a rebuild with the twins, standard .. get the internals upgraded that will take 500bhp, then do the turbo conversion inc with fueling etc !

Uhh, maybe you weren't reading, but 400+ is hard to do by rebuilding the twins. The BNR Stage 3 rebuilds are mighty powerful, but 500bhp is going to be hard to do.

Get 400 out of the stage 3s and see how that goes. It makes for a stupidly fast car.
