code 20: Metering oil pump position sensor, any ideas?

Greetings,

so my FD's check engine came one, I coded it, it came back code 20. I reseted it, and recoded it (just to make sure), same thing...

Has anyone got any idea on what could be the possible cause? Or how to test it to see if it actually went bad?

thanks,

-Sam

rikki is right you have an open circuit in the omp position sensor. its either the sensor (new omp), the ecu or the wiring in between

All I did was the oil change and changed the air filter... also had a problem with the coolant that I fixed.

Is the problem serious if it's the OMP or can I drive around a bit before it's fixed?

The omp goes bad and you get limp mode. IF the sensor goes bed then do you bet limp mode or just a code ? if you get a code only and the omp is working than driving it will be alright . Get a used sensor to correct the problem. A new omp withe sensor is $1400 from the dealer. You can change just ths sensor. I think my mechanic has a sensor in storage . Call 615 -893 -4469 if you need to buy one .

thanks for putting it in simple words

Well, my car seems to run decently... considering the old gas... as soon as I'll hit a half tank I'll put new gas + octane boost to make sure it doesn't knock on me... for now I have to take it easy on the throttle

Install used OMP

Anyone in NJ willing to check/replace my OMP for some bucks? (code 27 & limp mode) Can't afford mechanic labor and this is out of my league.

Thanks so much,
