Question code 20 metering oil pump position sensor?

my check engine light said that my metering oil pump position sensor is bad. i dont even know what this is. i also believe my car is in limp mode ??? cause when i go to give it gas it boggs and backfires. is this right and how do i fix it. i really need help my car has been out for a long time now. thanx guys.

Thats right your car is in limp mode. If the omp is pooched then you most likely have to replace it. New they are very expensive so I suggest you get your hands on a used one.

check the wiring to it. i dont belive it is servicable at all. ask around for a used one. /\ they are a lot o cash new.

anyone know if he can put resistors in it and pre-mix till then? will that keep him from limp? or does the ecu look for a swinging voltage?

how do i know if it is the mop that is bad or the sensor? and i dont even know what it looks like or where it is on my car. ps i recently swapped my engine would i have one on the old core cause i still have it.

There are different ways to test them. Your rotary mechanic should be able to test it for you. I had the same problem and I ended up replacing the omp. It cost me $100 used and haven't had any problems since. Good luck.

like i said i dont know if the sensor is servicable or not. the car will be in limp mode even if the pump is ok if the sensor is bad

would my car overheating cause the pump or the sensor to go bad? because i recently blew my engine when it overheated. i swapped the engine and it ran like this since.
