Clutches.... O yes CLutches...

Whats up guys. Im new to rx7club but not rx7's at all. I have had my 3rd gen for about a year now. My clutch is going to ****. I have a 94 with cork sport street porting, apex power fc, apexi twin intake, 1300cc secondary injectors, 20gb fuel pump (supra pump) 3 in down pipe, and some other small things, I have the stock rebuilt turbos, there is 2000 miles on the rebuilt 13b with new rotors and housings etc... Im only running 7lbs right now btw. This is my daily driver but also I do race every friday at the track. I was thinking of getting a act or exedy stage 2. Im not really knowledgable (sp) when it comes to clutches. Any info would be great. Also I want to get a downpipe back exhaust. Im thinking HKS 3 in, but once again any info would be great. Thanks alot.

The stock one should be more than fine with those mods if you want to keep the stock feel. i would suggest a street/ strip clutch, don't get into the 6 or 4 pucks and make sure you don't get an unsprung disc. the act s/s uses a stock sprung friction plate and a heavy duty pressure plate, that on would be the best for a daily driven car. as far as exhaust, just try to find one with the sound and styling you want. If you want to keep the stock look and stay fairly quiet then the racing beat dual tip is the way to go. other wise, it's just a matter of personal preference. some catbacks have issues once you get into higher horsepwer applications but, you should be okay with pretty much anything that catches your eye.

how much u goin to spend? are u goin to get a new flywheel too? were u on teh streetport with ur stock clutch? and how long did the clutch last u if u had a stock clutch with the street port?
i would get the exedy stage 2 twin plate. its a clutch and a flywheel. flywheels at 14lbs and the clutch feels stock but grabs like crazy. i driven a FD with that. after dying out once because it felt so stock but its ended up actully easy to drive.

just installed act street strip on my FD, really nice clutch, very fun to drive! check www.turboimport.com for some nice prices, paid 459,99 for mine, was the cheapest place.

Good luck,

Max

exedy twin plate is slightly more expensive though not everybody can afford one and with it being a daily driver, it's not worth the price if you ask me.

I'm going with a exedy twin plate, but I have a single turbo so I dont really know if you want to go that route with a clutch. As for the exhuast when I had my twins I had the greddy titanium exhuast which I just recently sold since I went single.. In my opinion the greddy TI has such a nice deep tone with a mid pipe..
