When my rx7 is up and runnig again ill be looking at 450-500rwhp so i was wondering what are some good clutches out there? I dont want somthing so strong it will tear up my tranny (never heard of that on an fd but just incase) i also dont wan somthing thats going to slip all the time or wear out in a year or two! any sugestions?

also the rear end is a 3.90, a 4.10 or a 4.33 what is the differnce? and which one comes on what?

gosh do a search, no im just kidding 3.9 is an auto and 4.10 is a manual i dont know about a 4.33 its probably aftermarket but it will away from your top end. if you are looking for a good clutch that isnt to bad i would not recomend anything unsprung

 

if i remember correctly the lower the number (3.90) the hight the top end and the slower the acceleration what kind of rear end is good for what and what would the car top out at with each rear end if it wasnt for drag?

your right i said that in my previous post the 4.33 will take away from your top end the most. for drag racing this would be the best. with the 4.10 and alot of power the tranny will do 200mph at 8k rpm. but thats on stock rims and tires. with a bigger rim i would go a tad higher. im not sure about the other rear ends.

 

any other sugestions on clutches anyone?

 

ACT 6 puck would do...

 

Definitely look at ACT clutches - VERY well made and can handle a lot of power. But, the heavier of a clutch you get, the harder it can be to drive - stiff clutch pedal, jerky on-off engagement, etc.

I have a brand new Exedy clutch for sale. It is good for about 500hp. It engages rougher than an ACT but it is very resistant to slippage since the disc is ceramic/metallic. I just went with an Exedy OEM replacement clutch since I changed my mind about going single.

So is the reason that auto fds are so slow is because the rear end and not the auto? if thats the case has anyone ever put the 4.10 rear end in an auto FD, and what were the results?

 

use the factory presure plate with a six-puck disk.
ACT presure plate is factory plate painted "Yellow "only.

 

Absolutely no difference other than the fact it is yellow?

 

and use mazda bearings in any act clutch you put in. the ones that come in their kit are junk.

it wouldn't be much different speed wise, as top speed is drag limited. The rpms would be different. I doubt you'll ever see these speeds on public roads, at least I hope not. Since you seem to be asking this a lot, if you have the cash, go ahead and get the 4.10, or 4.33. You'll like it a lot better, and you'll get more out of it in everyday driving. Top speed runs are few and far between.

the gearsets like 4.33, etc. you can get anywhere. Whole rear ends like a 4.10 you're gonna have to check the 3rd gen parts section. I recommend rotary experiment seven and fritz flynn.
